A friend of mine wants to know if a 16g that fits on a dsm, will fit on a 01 wrx sti...i told him i had no idea (i havent even seen the car yet) does anyone know? he wants to buy my 16g and then i could get something bigger:sneaky:
thanks

They make 16gs and other "mitsu" turbos for wrx, tell him to look on the wrx/sti vendor sites. One off a dsm won't bolt up.

WRX/Sti's do not come with t25's...they have some kind of VF turbo.

tell him to get STI "pink" injectors, 255 fuel pump and a vf39 STI turbo, cobb acess port and forget using a 16g...:thumb:

The 2008 Sti's come with the VF-43 turbo that has a turbine housing not as prone to cracking as the VF-39's. Ohh and don't go around telling people to "crank up the boost because it can handle it". That is just terrible advice because some people will actually do just that with no supporting mods.

looks like ill be doing some reading on wrx forums and upgrade paths..anyone know of a good upgrade path? i was thinking of just raising the boost a few pounds guess im wrong...now i have lots some reading to do

Don't mess with the airbox if you have an STi. The Hotwire MAF is sensitive like you wouldn't believe, there is very little to gain in horsepower by messing with the intake box.
I pulled the main air snorkel going over the radiator but left the intake sucking thru the fenderwell. This picks up a good amount of lowend and topend and improves driveability. I use the stock airfilter also. I did pressure drop tests on the entire intake system and the airfilter itself produces zero restriction to the motor.

You can toss in a boost controller. WRX's have possibly the slowest spoolup programmed into the ECU. A boost controller will make a huge difference in driveability.

STI comes with 550cc injectors, 18"x6" top mount intercooler, 2.5" exhaust, and the VF39 turbo rated for 35 lb/min.
