I havnt heard of one person unhappy with sheps work.

Thats why im spending 2600 bucks there for a tranny and engine work.

Damn man that might be more than I'll be spending on my dsm LOL

Wow, I am glad I am not alone. My experience with TRE was just as bad...no customer service whatsoever.

You are the customer, thus, you are the boss of the company that you are giving your business too. Therefore, they must kiss your butt. Anything less is simply unacceptable.

TRE makes a damn fine tranny, but they'd better pick up their customer service standards. Until then, I will continue to be a loyal Shep believer (I am in love with my Shep tranny).

And John Shepherd is the man. He'll take care of you better than anyone else. I like that my tranny AND its builder are both looking out for me, NOT just my tranny. Anything of this magnitude in investment should provide this type of support.

Best of luck with the new tranny; let us know how you like it. I am sure you will not be disappointed :D

cool glad you're happy. I want to have mine done by shep too when it breaks again. I didn't like TRE either ... 1/2 of my emails they didn't even respond to, and the ones they did answer. they came across as very rude and not willing to help out customers. All I wanted was the buy the parts from them and put it in myself so I could save the $500 labor and shipping the trans each way, and I didn't even want warrantee on anything and they still wouldn't do it ... TRE = Team Rip Off!!!!

OK, here goes.... I dropped the car off on Monday as scheduled, but work on it didnt begin until Tuesday because of a small mounting discrepency. Tuesday, they dropped the tranny in and realized my axle spines were chewed up. A pair of alxes had to be ordered. They came in the next day and the car was ready to go by 3:00 PM. BUT, I work 2nd shift and I was at work by noon. Therefore, I had to wait until Thursday morning to pick up the car. That morning, I pulled the car out of the bay door. I drove 20 yards across the parking lot and........ boom. The cv axle ripped in half at the joint. My guess is, the axle they installed was a hair too short. It was sick looking. I was pissed. Needless to say, I let them know how mad I was, and they had a different, new axle in it within 2 hours. I drove the car around a little bit today, everthing feels good. I'm going to drive it all weekend and I'll post on Sunday how everything feels with the tranny. So far, so good.

*shrugs* TRE was nice to me, and I'm a first class shithead.

I am pulling my tranny right now to send to Shep. I looked all over this board to see what people had to say about each company. The result were about the same as this thread. I looked at TRE prices and they are alot more than Shep and for what??? I bet not awhoel lot if anything, really. I didnt even call them do to customer service issues that I have heard of.

(start rant) I work in customer service, at a credit union, and have to deal with all types of people, college kids, old ladies, millionaires, and stupid people. I am polite to everyone of them and approach each one different. i can talk to the college kid different than I can ther old lady and part of knowing that is good customer service. If Jon cant realize that then he will lose more business. At least 4 people have chossen Shep just in this thread for that reason. Now on to the bringing up other companies. That is part of business and what makes the prices what they are. I have people come in all the time and ask whay should I come here and not go to B of A. What am I supposed to do tell them they shoudln't bring that up because its rude?? No, that is a good question. They are doing me a favor by comming in and bringing me there business, just as 99gst racer was hoping to do with TRE. I tell them the pertinent facts as to why my services are better for them that B of A with out saying that B of A sucks or talking bad about them. If I answer there tough questions in a good way then they bring there business to me and I have done my job. (end rant)

I cant wait to drive my car when I get my tranny back and actually ba able to see what my car can do at the track.

I was in the market for a new tranny I have been watching the fourms for the longest time the results where kinda even. So I talked to a local DSM guy around here I knew he has gone threw about 5 or more trannies. So I asked him what he would recomend as far as TRE or SHEP He said I have used them all, he said that the Shep tranny held up better than the TRE one did. But he recomends Shep to anyone in the market or aleast till dogbox racing prefects there true doxbox tranny. He said he talked to the guys at dogbox and it is somthing like 6000 for there true dogbox tranny.

dogbox racing is great, i highly recommend them, i have their tranny rebuild, and it is awesome.........i would think they are every bit as good as shep and they are cheaper too.

Yeah, it seems we have a new player in the game. It's not just Shep and TRE anymore. It's good to that the Dogbox Racing rebuild is working good for people. Hopefully their customer service is just as good as their product. :thumb:

Im going to be ordering a tranny from shep in a few months, after all the threads ive read over comparing everything, he seems to be THE MAN to go to, and very customer friendly which means a lot to me.

4 Months ago I needed a tranny, quick. I called TRE , 5 times and never got an answer. When I phoned Shep, he said that he had nothing built and that he was going to Murtle Beach for a week. I though that I was SOL, until he offered to sell me his spare race tranny. He gave me a good deal and trusted me to send the core back to him, without even knowing me. I love the tranny so far and would recommend him to anyone.great guy! and great service!

Yeah, I drove over there and picked mine up the day before he went to Murtle Beach. He was in a hurry to get mine done before he left. It's all the little (and sometimes big) things that Shep does, that makes him the go-to man for Tranny's. Because of how good my experience was, I wouldnt recommend anyone else. Thats awesome that he would do that for you. :thumb:

John Shepherd has been good to me.

I drove out from northeast Pennsylvania....6hrs. Dropped off my car there, took a car service to the Akron Canton A/P, took a flight back home. When it was finiahed, I flew back to pick her up. He did the trans and some other work, and I was quite pleased.

As you can see, I am willing to go to great lengths for a shop that knows what there doing and has excellent custoemr service. John fill both departments well.

He is quick too.....no long waits..

I , as well as many, agree that Sheps work is outstanding and the customer service wins 1st prize for sure.
My experience with TRE a while back was not that great, actually, it was terrible. I had called them to order some parts to have a local tranny guy rebuild my tranny. I didnt have a ton of money and only need a few parts and a couple upgrades. They didnt want to do it at first but finally said ok and that he had everything. i asked him to ship it overnight to Omaha and he said that he would do it, so i paid the extra 40-50 extra bucks to get my car fixed. Well, after spending 400+ dollars with him, and having my parts NOT show up the next day made me wonder so i called him, sure enough he said he shipped it. I called UPS and it never was shipped and the tracking number was not in the records. The next day rolls around, still no parts, 2 days later, nothing. I spent an extra 50 bux to get my parts later than if it were shipped ground. He lied directly to me and a few days later i got it, and it had been shipped ground and not next day and he didnt send it out the first day like i had requested. He was not friendly and was very hard to work with. Regardless i got the parts and my tranny still works(yet i dont beat on it) I STILL vote Shep and my reason is this.
I had called him a month ago wondering if he ahd any 2g bellhousings because mine broke. He said he didnt have any at the time but would look around. A couple days later i call back to see if maybe he had just gotten one in and he said he did that day. He said normally he needed an extra one at the shop for rebuilds that come in but would sell it to me anyways and i saved 300+ dollars buying it from him. I got it a few days later, and it works perfectly. That to me shows that he cares about his customers. ALSO, when i called him i didnt know he would answer the phone but he did and i didnt even know it was him until i asked. Seems like a very down to earth guy...Props to Shep. :dsm:

Just curious, but, why wouldn't you guys just get an Autometer EGT probe for the same price and a fraction of the waiting time?

the ones TRE sells have a much faster response which i think is very important in making sure your not running too hot. id like to know as soon as possible. before its to late
