I am getting ready to upgrade my downpipe to an o2 eliminator. witch would be better getting one that dumps to atmosphere or dumps back into exhaust? i have th stock 14b now but upgrading to a evo16g later on. and dont want to upgrade my dp later

I have a dump o2 housing on my 14b. Found out I was leaking past through cracks around the wastegate flapper after installing that. So it sound like crap when accelerating until the wasgate opens. Besides that I don't hit full boost until almost 4500 RPMs(related to the leak not the dump). So if you got some miles on your turbo keep that in mind since most of them develope cracks around the flapper. Also what size down pipep are you going with and what size is the rest of your exhaust?

i currently have a 2.5" catback from RNR and im going to get their 2.5" o2 eliminator downpipe w/ cat eliminator. just needed to know if it would have any performance gains over the internal dump. sound is not an issue for me, unless i cross the border into virginia, then i may have a problem but im not gonna worry about it.

I don't think that most people have creep issues with a 2.5" exhaust so you probably don't need an external dump, but I will look around and see if I can dig up anything.

Edit:
if you haven't read the thread in faq here it is: http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=109324
that is the best place to start, after that I would say the only way to be sure you won't creep is to have an external wastegate setup. Otherwise you need to experiment, just get what you want and if it doesn't work, modify. Just remember, because x person has x turbo with x and x set up doesn't mean it will work for you...

even without the o2 dump your exh. housing cracks would still cause spoolup to be very slow. right? my turbo doesnt spool up as fast as it should but its because i have a crack in my mani. (getting it replaced with a ported 2g soon) so i dont think i should have any problems

im about to order the o2 eliminator downpipe and all i need to know is will the external have any adverse effects because i still have the stock 14b. and if i get one are they annoyingly loud?

No, external will not have any adverse effects. As long as there is no emission checks, you will have no problems. If anything, having an external dump will reduce risk of boost creep with large exhaust and small turbo.
