14b on a 2G

Hey all, my T2small finally crapped out on my 2G, I have blowby on the compressor side, looks like a bad seal per the oil caked around the lower i/c pipe.

Anyways, I'm about to buy a 14b and adapter kit for the TD05 line-up and I was wondering if I need to get the 14b with the water lines attached or can I use the lines from my 2G?

You don't need any adapter kit.

That thread has some pretty good 14b-2G info.

In case you don't find it, use your water lines, cut off most of the line itself (so that you have the eye-hole and a few inches of tubing) and run fuel line to the other water line (on the motor.)

Easier than bending, easier to bolt on, happier you.

Wow, thanks for the prompt response

At the very least I should spring for the oil feed and J-pipe - what's your opinion on that? I'm not looking to ghetto-rig this assembly even though that seems to be the DSM'er way :laugh:

if you want to do it right.

NEW:
- o2/dp gasket, turbo/mani gasket, oil return gasket <-- not a must, but I'd recommend since you have everything out.
- SS oil feed line <-- IMO a must
- 1g J-pipe or vendor J-pipe <-- recommend, they're bigger
- 1g oil drain pipe <-- not necessary, but a hell of a lot sturdier than the POS aluminum 2g one.

REUSE:

- stock water lines [ cut or bend ]
- 2g oil drain, just refile the holes [ careful ! ]

if you dont want to buy everything :

- resuse all gaskets, use RTV need be [ on oil lines of course ]
- 1g oil feed line, or some weird 2g contraption to make fit your new turbo

I ordered the 2G 14b/16g SS oil feed from SBR, 4 new turbo bolts (with the crush washers), the 1G J-pipe, and a JoeP MBC tonight.

My next steps are to order the 1G oil return and an OEM turbo/manifold gasket and I think I'm done... right?

mitsugraveyard.com will get you a 1G return line pretty quick. or you can get a nice one from SBR also for ~50 bucks.

at the same time i'd order a 7cm gasket from SBR along with o2/DP gasket too.

can you tell which shop i like best ?

Hah! Okay, Mitsu Graveyard told me to call on Monday morning about the oil return. I'm going to get the gaskets too just for safety assurance...

Might I experience any boost creep with the 14b? A fellow DSMtuner mentioned he was creeping to 20psi until he ported the O2 housing - I was just wondering if this is a common problem or just a fluke

Common problem with a 3" exhaust, is boost creep.

You can file the holes together on the 2G return line and use that, instead of buying one.
