Hey guys and gals. My t25 has bought the farm. I'm thinking of installing a 14b but was wondering if porting the exhuast housing and 02 was required. Right now the exhaust system is completely stock. Next week I'll have a custom catback on. My problem is I dont have the resources to do the porting. Whats the draw backs of just slapping on the turbo? Also read about capping off the coolant lines any thoughts on the pros/cons of this? Thanks

They might have, but I am sure this gets closed now for bumping.

I will go ahead and tell you basic knowledge. Porting almost anything on the exhaust track is going to yield some good gains. I would say go ahead and port it. Might aswell if it is going to be off the car.

Porting isn't required, but it's usually a good idea in order to help spool up.

I want to port it. I just dont have access to a die grinder and I'm not about to spend the money for a shop to do. Just didnt seem worth spending the money when I'm just going to upgrade a little later. Thanks guys. Any ideas about capping the coolant lines?

you're still going to need those coolant lines for a 14b so I wouldn't cap them off

I had read that they werent needed if you turbo timed your car, or at least were carefull about letting the turbo cool down before shutting off.

Don't let it scare you. ;) I bought a knock off die grinder and a cabide burr from datalogger.com and the rest was common sense. The hardest part was getting started, follow vfaq and you'll be fine. Give Greg a call at datalogger, he will also give you some tips to get you started. Have fun.

Oh, make sure you use a safty gogle.

Negative, atleast from my front seat. I would leave the lines so that you can use them. Why not? It is better and designed to be watercooled.
