I was wondering how much boost i can run on stock internals with a 6bolt 4bolt and what i might beable to run. If theres any more little mods i can do to up my horsepower. If i got a boost controller to how much psi?

You also have to remember that this boost pressure is not static, it's not like the intake manifold is being pressurized like a balloon. That 22 psi is while the engine is sucking in as much air as possible. Trying to have something like a 14B maintain 22 psi while the engine is sucking in as much air as possible at 6000 rpm's is going to be significantly less efficent than something like a FP Green maintain that same amount of pressure while the engine is sucking it in at 6000 rpm's.

The closest analogy I can think of is trying to blow through a straw and trying to blow through an empty paper towel roll. Trying to blow through that paper towel roll and maintain any kind of pressure will leave you winded pretty quickly. That's your 14B at 22 psi. Trying to maintain that same amount of pressure through the straw is not as difficult and won't leave you so winded. That's your FP Green at 22 psi.

It's the closest analogy I can think of when you think of turbocharger efficency.

Hey. I think that is a great analogy!

To the original poster.

14B
16psi
Hacked maf
450s
Rewired Fuel pump
Logger

Got the car like this. Had been driven for years like this and I drove it like this for the longest time. It was fun because it was always there. Never broke down. The 14b can push it hard, but it will spin itself into oblivion. It's like running a horse into the ground.

i have a question guys,

going to be running 14b and i would to get a rough estimate of how much boost to run?

im putting a 190FP and 3" TBE and im going to be porting the 02 housing this weekend and running off the SMIC, im gonna also be getting a boost gauge and a MBC, should i stay at roughly like 14-15lbs for right now?

but in about 2 weeks or so, im going to be adding methanol with tuning but with the stock injectors, can i get up to 18-20 lbs?

your going to need to actually tune with the meth and see where you can boost within the amount of timing/knock you have. reason being is some run 100% meth and some run a different mixture. so there will be plenty of variables. do you have a logger of any kind?

Better is an air compressor I think. A small 1 gallon pancake compressor can deliver 90 psi. And a large 60 gallon compressor can deilver 90 psi. Now if you hook an air jack hammer up to it that requires 20 cfm at 90 psi. How well will the pancake compressor keep up? Despite able to make 90 psi, it just cannot flow enough at that pressure.

i tried to post my question but for some reason i cant.... i have a 14b turbo in good condition that i am going to replace it with my stock turbo...what do i need to do that....also i have a turbo kit for eclipse gs ..... the problem now is i have 98 eclipse gsx... do you think guys that the intercooler will fit in my gsx or do i need to get new pipes.... my plan is to make 250-300 hp so if you have other suggestions please let me know.... I'm thinking of doing at first let the car breath... ill put headers, catback, exhaust and intercooler.....i am new to this so if you have ideas of what im supposed to do please let me know

not everybody could do 300whp on a 14b.

I just logged a friends car. He has a 14b turbo boosting at 17psi, 450cc injectors. 1G engine, FWD lancer. It pulls good.

86% duty cycle. 609 maf, 255 lph, afpr set at 45psi. rechip. Tuned at 11.0:1 AF ratio, 22* peak timing. barely knocks. 95 octane gas.

we wanted to turn the boost up and drop some timing but we can't get the car to hook up. Time to drop in some MT drag radials.
