hey guys! well my car has about 125+ thousand miles on it and im planning on upgrading my whole turbo system this summer. but before i go throwing new parts on, i want to make sure everything is in great condition. so my question is: what kind of things should i look at/check for a car with this many miles? are there any parts that i should DEFINITELY look at for a car this old? im not toooo familiar with what parts start to break around this much mileage so if anyone could give me a heads up id appreciate it!! :thumb:

I dont see any problem with adding a bigger turbo setup, but if i were you i'd do all maintenance and also do a compression test to make sure everything is running good. Do you have a turbo in mind? What is your goal for the car? You are fwd so traction might be an issue as how big you want to go. You will want to pick up something to log with as well.

Maintenence at 120K...

Timing belt, balance belt, tensioner, 2 tensioner pulleys, idler pulley, water pump, 2 cam seals, crank seal, oil pump seal, balance shaft seal.

Boost leak test to check condition of valve stem seals, if needed, freshen up head. This job would also include the 2 cam seals mentioned above. Head gasket set.

Also a compression test to check the rings.

Radiator hoses, heater hoses, misc water jumper hoses spread over engine, fuel filter, accessory belts, plugs, wires. Check crank pulley. Check the exhaust mani for cracks.

Now you should be ready to upgrade the turbo plus supporting mods.

When you upgrade the clutch, put a new rear crank seal in, check slave and master cylinders. While the tranny is out, it is a good time for at least a LSD insert.

yea i plan on going with a evo III...all my hoses were recently changed and i changed the fuel filter this past summer. changed the wires last summer and the plugs a few months ago, so i should be good there. i think i need to change the belts though...how much would changing all those seals cost? (rough average). so after all that, all i would need is the turbo, mbc, ic and pipes, fuel pump and injectors? (o2 housing etc..?) im in the midst of finishing up my blowthru setup and also planned on getting an ecu+...sound good? also, whats a good intercooler to get for my choice of turbo? thanx guys!
