Nice run... It just kinda gives me hope for my ET goal being FWD. I never ran good slicks on my car, so I never really got to see how it would ET. The Talon should make about 150 more wheel HP than the Laser with a much more efficient setup (Laser went 129mph) so I wonder how far off the 10's could be with good driving? Wouldn't that be nice..

Regards,

Good luck, hope you can get there. Keep me posted.

they asked me what it would take and how much. they didnt ask for driver skill how hard it will be to launch. those are just the tools you need. i didnt even put nitrous in that. is it harder then just the pieces, obviously.

Good job to both of you, #### it I dont care if it was a honda or not, it takes a damn good car to run 11's. I do feel however that the DSM can do it much easier and not have to have the backing of a shop to create that kind of a timeslip that easy, but whatever it takes I guess. Damn good job to both of you guys, specially for a fwd.

Well, I know a guy with a civic that has run a best of 12.3@115 it has: b18c motor, t3/t4 50 trim, front mount, afc, injectors, fuel pump, guages, rims, full exhaust running 13 psi on a mix of pump and race gas. He has put 18k on this combo with no real problems. I figure he has 8k in speed mods the rest is in the looks dept.

They have come a long way I just love awd too much. I may regret saying that in the future, but I like my car right now.

wow, nice run TURBOTalon92.....good job! man, that car went crazy after it got the traction. i bet, if u could've just decrease the tire spin, you would've done better. your car just gave me more confident meeting my goal(hi-12's low-13's in a FPbig28).

anyway, i have a friend that just spent a little over $6000. for his b16c engine. swap into a 96 hatch civic(drop exhaust, cold air intake, dc headers, and something) and only nailed a mid 14's run after long hours of tuning the car. but am not really sure if that is the maximum capability of his set up, but he thought that he'll be able to break into 13's,..so, i dont know.

It would be pointless. It would spin through three gears. It would probably run....I am not even going to speculate, but it would be slow. I would have to baby the #### out of it. In first and second gear, anything more than 30% throttle causes wheel spin.

dsmrocker- um what car did he get the b16c from? i have heard of a b16a1(delsol) b16a3(civic si) and a b16b(civic type r).

Properly done Honda's are stupid fast. No, they aren't riced out, and they are few and far. Just like seeing an 11-second DSM is rare on the street.

Probably alot more fast honda's on the street than fast DSM's. But the majority of fast Honda's get turned into full race cars very quickly compared to the full race DSM conversion.

I raced a civic si with 7k stuck into go fast mods and i had 1.5k stuck into mine and beat him by a couple car lengths...pretty ### if you ask me...sure you'll see 11 second civics on the road but thats with their big ass bottle of NAWWWWWWS in the back. You wont see many civic's running 11's off the silly bottle! The ratio of dsm vs civic owners to use nos in the 11 second category is pretty big i bet. I guarentee an 11 second civic not using nos is not a reliable car on the street =/

Anyways...11's in a fwd man ...
YOU ARE MY HERO! :D

  :|

Some of you really need to lighten up. "I raced so and so with X-amount of dollars to his/her BIGGER X-amount of dollars." Such a bullshit statement sometimes. Guaranteed that there are more ricer honda/acura guys out there than enthusiasts, but the enthusiasts to thrive. To many of you troll on like honda/acura ricer boards and don't get the full story when making some of these assinine statements.

NO, IT DOES NOT TAKE 15K TO MAKE A HONDA RUN 11'S. AND IT DOESN'T TAKE NITROUS OXIDE ( STOP WITH THE "NOS" "NAAWZ" crap, "NOS" IS A COMPANY)

But granted, it will take more than a 1st gen DSM. I will give a prime example of a stout 1992 Civic CX hatch my good friend Josh owns. Full interior.

1992 Civic CX 1.5L (bad ecu, owner didn't know) $800
1995 Integra GSR 1.8L B18C1/tranny $2000
DRAG Gen III turbo kit (FMIC) $3000
HAS Sport motor mounts $130
3" mandrel exhaust $380
Apexi V-AFC $450
H&R lowering springs $220
T/E/L 450cc injectors Free from me
Block gaurd (not sure of maker)/work $325

Total: $7305 approximately

Sure, there has been more money spent in places (Dyno Tuning, gauges, and such) But the car is a beast. What makes it such a Beast in hondas are thier WEIGHT. Stock this car is barely 2200lbs. He has dynoed a best of 296whp....

I believe there are more low 12/high 11 sec dsm's on the road than hondas though.

AND TO THE ORIGINATOR OF THIS THREAD, sorry I hijacked it and went nuts. :shhh: That is a VERY nice 1st gen you have and very quick. I just wish spring would come so the tracks open here!

Nice vid chris! Can't wait to see ya out there this year with all the upgrades. Are you gonna be at the rock on the 2nd? My car is in another building stage as well. Good thing though is that the tranny is done and it should have no problems with the slicks this year. So it'll be nice to have some quick FWD dsm's out there. See ya at the track.

get those on video.. :)

ive raced 1 or 2 BPU ++ supras on the interstate.. and won.. 4 out of 5.. its pretty bad when the guy in the supra has to cheat and and leave on the 2nd honk.... but when i catch on and leave on the 2nd honk w/ him the next 4 races and win.........priceless.. :dsm:

yea, i was wondering about the link.

i havent seen a video of an 11 sec. FWD car yet.

seriously, though. what's all this crap about honda vs. dsm. who gives two craps? i own a dsm. i once owned a honda. i tried to make both of them fast. i like my dsm more than the honda like i like a blowjob instead of getting stabbed in the eye. but that's MY opinion. whoever this joker is that started whining about us dsm guys talkin about how well a dsm did in a race is an idiot. just take a video of a honda making a good run against a dsm (good luck!) and show it to your honda buddies at your forum.

maybe you honda guys dont realize that if you were to call honda, and them actually speak english back to you, you could ask them what their performance car is made for. the answer you get might surprise you. they ARE made for road race, not drag race. sure you can spend the money and build one up, but you'd be better of with a car that was built to make and take power.

that's good that you can buy a big turbo kit and slap it on. but what happens when the cylinder walls crumble because you didnt sleeve the block? what about those axles that break after practically every race because you didnt spend the extra money on better axles? what about your tranny? and EVERYTHING ELSE because your car was not, no matter how much you try to convince yourself, made for drag racing.

just look at the numbers. honda = really high compression : dsm = really low compression. honda = really, really, really light : dsm = unibody/heavy.

i wouldnt dare pit a dsm against a honda at auto-x unless i had invested piles of money into roll cages, chassis braces, crazy suspension mods, etc. not saying it cant be done, but it would take a lot of work and money.

you are comparing apples to oranges. stop it. it doesnt work like that. dont go to somebody's forum and complain about their cars. you wouldn't even try to compare that honda to a supra would you......didnt think so.

just a side note: when i went to sport compact nationals in ennis, tx....the only cars that were breaking CONSTANTLY (and I mean that in ever sense of the word) wer hondas. not to mention that they were all FULL RACE cars that could barely break into the 10's. seems like a lost cause unless you like to do things the hard way, but the fact remains:

honda owners like hondas.
dsm owners like dsm.
