Was wondering if the a 1.8 tranny from a 92 or 93 could go in a 2.0? Was looking at them, they look the same.. any comments?

manual nt trannys are the same, f5m22. now the year difference in autos 92 and 93, wether they are from a 1.8 or 2.0 nt they are different, the computer for the tranny is different. if an auto use the same year wether its from a 1.8 or 2.0nt dont matter, make sure its the same year for your car.

looking at swaping with a 1993 1.8 manual tranny.
and getting rid of 1991 n/t 2.0 tranny....
Is the gear ratio the same?

the 1.8's are geared the lowest of the fwd dsm transmissions
So that is no good?
I'm trying to get more power or just being able to shift gears right...

Thats wrong, all fwd 1g n/a cars are geared exaxtly the same. The VFAQ has all the dsm gear ratios in the drivetrain section if anyone wanted to look. You can use a 93 2.0 n/a tranny and it would work just perfect.

yes it will fit, but the clutch and flywheel will need to be changed.

This is incorrect, this only goes for a NT tranny in a Turbo car. I've installed a manual trans from a 1.8l car into a dd 2.0 nt car. Without touching the flywheel/clutch.

i thought thats what he was trying to do  but i guess thats what i get for skimming the thread and assuming. :shhh:

NonTurbo

Gears 1G NT
1st 3.363
2nd 1.947
3rd 1.285
4th 0.939
5th 0.756
R 3.083

Primary 1.096
Secondary 3.941
FINAL 4.322

Thats from the vfaq, I cant direct link it b/c of the frames but it mentions nothing about the 1.8 and 2.0 trans being different. There is a difference beween the 2g n/a's though (2.0/2.4)

The vfaq skips info about the 1.8s all the time. Just because they didnt say its different doesnt mean its the same. The guy who bought my 1.8 trans put it in his 2.0NT when they had to switch the tranny he called me a couple days later after he had it in and said it was working great and was more fun to drive then before because of the lower gears. Lower top speed but more initial power

Thanks for all the imput guys.. think i might try this 1.8 tranny, for sh!t and giggels...
