Whats up everybody so i am new to the site and i have a 1992 eclipse with the crap 1.8 and i want to do a 2.0 turbo swap b/c i was given one. I have asked around and a couple people have told me that and quote "it can't be done". I am just trying to get some feedback on what others think.
Thanks

I used to have one and I've looked into it. It is a lot of work and money. It would just be easier to buy one that is already turbocharged. That's what I did and I never regretted it.

seriously... it WWAAAYY too much to make it into a turbo'd car... if you want to be a sav, buy a GST spyder and do an AWD conversion... LOL... Im considering one at the moment, because I got a donor GSX just chillen...

but yeah.. dont do it, unless you like spending alot of time and money... just sell the swap and the car and buy a GSX or TSi AWD... I got mine for 1000 with a blown motor... you could probably get a good running one for around 2000... check craigslist.com...

Agreed. You'll spend a LOT more money converting, and have a whole lot more problems and headache, than if you just keep your 1.8L as a DD (yay fuel economy) and buy a turbo DSM to have fun with.

You can't build the hell out of the 1.8, there is an extreme lack of aftermarket support for that motor. Even if you did, you still wouldn't even be close to a stock turbo one probably.
