My 90 Eclipse was originally 2.0NT. Previous owners swapped to 1.8. I am trying to install a 2.0NT but have run into wiring problems at the engine. 1.8 distributor connector (6-pin) does not fit 2.0 (8-pin). What gives? Is there a conversion kit for this or do I have to change the wiring harness?

I am about to switch to a 2.0 SOHC from a 1.8 SOHC, is there anything that I need to know that maybe I need to switch over too? Other than the computer and wiring harness? I have a 1993 Eclipse, 1991 Eclipse GS and bout to buy a 1991 Galant with a 2.0 SOHC. I also have a 2.0 DOHC that I am about to have to buy 4 brand new pistons for. Anyone has an idea how much they will cost? Also a higher flow water pump for the same engine. I am having too many problems with my 1.8. Had a blown head gasket and had to shave the head so now the head isn't usable anymore and the head gasket blew again. It has a shim on it of 0.030 because they had to shave off 0.032 of an inch and the head was shaved before. So, in conclusion, I have a 2.0 DOHC and getting a 2.0 SOHC. I have a 1.8 SOHC and will switch from the 1.8 to the 2.0 SOHC then to the 2.0 DOHC. Any suggestions?

I think you should leave w/e motor is in there now in it and sell the car sell the other motor as well and go with a turbo one I'm sure you'd be much happier then ;)

sorry probably a stupid suggestion for you but I think you'd be the happiest w/ a turbo car :thumb: :dsm: :talon:

Well, the 1.8 has bad rings which causes alot of blown by and umm.... a blown head gasket. So selling it out of the question. Its junk. I will just buy the 91 Galant, swap transmissions and insurance and everything else till I can afford the $300 pistons for my 2.0 DOHC. Sound good to yall?
