02 sensor failure.

Ok so i had my 1995 Eagle Talon ESI hooked up to a computer to see what was wrong with it because engine light was on. Now the timing is off and it also said o2 Sensor (High Voltage) Im not sure what that means. Now when the car idles the rev jumps up and down. As well as it sounds like the air intake is sucking in way to much air . Could the o2 Sensor be the problem that is causing all of this?. As well i put on aftermarket headers. But we got the o2 sensor in and out without really touching it to anything. Any Advice will help thank you.

It's possible.

If the o2 sensor is completely shot and is registering lean the ECU will compensate and add fuel. If the rpms increase to a certain point (IIRC on 1GT ECU's its 1500rpms?) it goes into decel mode and cuts fuel. Basically it leaves you at point A again where it sees lean and adds more fuel. Welcome to the Idle Surge loop

That's all I can offer, while I'm not sure how likely the o2 sensor is in your problem, it is one of a few things that could cause your problem, although idle surge is more of a ISC problem.

+1. My GST did it when i first bought it. At first i thought it was the IAC, but it turned out being one of the O2 senors causing intermittent surge and rough idle

Actually i'm pretty sure that if it said high voltage that means your running rich.

Yes its running very rich but i believe it is because of o2 sensor sending wrong signals which is causing it to run so rich

yeah i have same problem, my car will idle from like 750-800 rpm like a chugging sound, the car feels like it has no power at all, ive replaaced every sensor but 02 sensors and havent done coilpack yet, i can smeel unburnt fuel and i get flame backfires from being so rich..sometimes the idle is awesome, sometimes it just plain sucks, now after a while it got worse to where sometimes it'll die a second after started once and then run fine afterwards.. The car is super jerky at low speeds and oh yeah

My cold air intake sounds like a f***ing jet taking off for like 3 mins.

i have not figured this out.

the o2 sensor on your o2 housing is the one that matters the most, so if that one burns out then your car will act up, the second o2 sensor which is located under your car would not make that huge of a difference if it went out, it might run the cur a tiny bit rich but thats about it, so change the front o2 sensor!

yes its a n/t but it sounds like your having same problem . mine started out not bad just sputtering sometimes act up but i noticed when i replaced the headers that it got worst fast. and the cold air intake sucks in massive amounts of air doesnt sound healthy at all.

yeah dude same problem ehre!! i have some race headers and 3 inch c-back exhaust and C air intake..my intake sound like a heavy duty vaccuum.... my car sputters like hell on deceleration, and i get a random misfire code sometimes. it jsut chuggs at idle sometimes, and its good idle sometimes. Takes like 2 mins for my car to run right after started. Is your car really jerky back and forth at like 5mph in 1st gear??

yah man its really bad i think its just adding way to much gas though. im going to change the front o2 sensor on tuesday ill let you know in a message when i get it in.
