You might get farther than you think with just a good rubbing compound and some serious elbow grease. But, once the clearcoat is too far gone (like mine), might as well plan on a repaint.

If you go on ebay they sell kits for motorcycle wheel pinstripes. The vinyl comes pre-cut so the bend is already there. I did this on my Charger Daytona and it looked tight. I ended up getting tired of the stripes though and all I had to do was remove them (big issue with paint).
