Retain original Tach functionality using Haltech

Hey everyone, so I’m going to be running Haltech S2 on my 1g. My plan is to retain the original dash cluster and run two BTI Can gauges. My question is how do I retain my tachometer functionality through Haltech? Do I need to purchase the tacho output adapter? I read on some forums people used a DPO output. Any help is appreciated.

Wayne you decided t9 keep the oem dash. Will it not work with the s2 , so your trying to read the speed.
Yeah I got something else in store. I would rather have a working oem cluster for now. I’m going to tuck away the speed sensor and reinstall the speedometer cable. From the feedback I received , the s2 can control the oem tach.

I have a 2G and an Elite 1500. My tach did not work. It would jump around sometimes but mostly sit dead at 0. Their tach adapter product page explains why this happens with older, ignition system driven tachs. I don't have an S2, but I don't know what it would do to run the tach that the Elite doesn't. You may want to double check.

I have the haltech elite 1500 on my 2g , i wired the speed sensor like original schematic, and i use the same wire connected to the dash in the ecu
