Will a first gen 4g63 bolt from a DSM up to the trans that is already in the FWD Summit? Or do I need a a 1g DSM auto FWD trans to go with it?

I did search, didn't find anything that specific. I have a couple 4g63's sitting around doing nothing and I have a line on a clean 1994 Summit LX.

It's 2.4L L4 SOHC 16V in the summit.

Also, are the keys/ignition cylinder from a DSM the same? (there's no keys)

Thanks in advance!

The 1993-1996 Summit / Expo FWD Auto used a F4A23-2-LNQ transmission. Looks like that trans is a “2G-style” that has 3 mounts on it. So, a 1G trans would be incompatible from a bolt-in standpoint.

It uses the same starter plate used on the 2G AWD manual and N/T Spyder automatic, MD167356. Which means the Summit / Expo transmission case bolts to the 4G63 block.

Drive plate - MD754224 — MD760084 — same as some 1G 7-bolt FWD automatics and 2G N/T Spyder automatics
Drive plate adapter - MD756768 — MD760086 — same as DSM 7-bolt automatics
Drive plate bolts (7x) - MD752272 - same as DSM 7-bolt automatics
Torque Converter — MD751519 — MD762924 - same as 2G N/T Spyder automatic

That all said, I would look for anyone that has 4G63 swapped their automatic N/T Spyders. If they didn’t do anything differently with the trans, then it should work.
