1990 Plymouth Laser 1.8 Manual

At cold starts it start up fine. After driving for few minutes it tends to stutter, I hear the MPI relay clicking and check engine light comes on, then it goes back to normal and the engine light goes away. There have been some moments it shuts off and while the vehicle still moving I’m able to start it right up, but if at stop sometimes when it start up it stutters the same way and shut off.

In some situations it does not do it at all. Before this I did have crack no start, I did disconnect the ECU to inspect for any damage or corrosion when plugging the connector back in vehicle started right up, I assume I did ECU reset.

When reading codes with multimeter it goes to 12v to 0v back and fort, which is normal condition no codes.

Vehicle does have a new fuel pump, fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor, spark plug and wires, new battery
I have heard that the ECU on the early years tend to be bad so before doing that I did inspect anything and I found no O2 sensor, (pictured below), does anyone know the reason why the owner before me did this?

I don’t see anything in vehicle that tells me it’s a California car, so I’m go along with Federal 02 sensor, looking the at diagram, it seems like on wire 02 sensor, it self grounded, signal wire (white) has ground wire (black) and their both have twist cap on yellow wire. I’m gonna order a 02 sensor and cut the connector part of it and solder the wire together, I just wanted to ask how I’m gonna wire them together, if the white wire is coming from ECU but it has it ground wire (black) but 02 sensor is mounted/self grounded and also if anyone know what this yellow wire can lead to.

Any information will be helpful, thank you

I don't have a nice 1.8L ECU pin diagram handy. It's looks like the 4G37 O2 sensor isn't a heated type so there is just the sensor ground and the sensor output along with the shield to deal with.

This is the one I found, is for 1.8 manual, what confused me was the California or federal type
