after changing the timing belt and balance shaft belt, i have a loop i guess to call it when at idle once the car is warm, when i first start it in the morning i dont hear it, or when im giving it gas i dont hear it, is this because my timing is off a little bit?

My guess is you didn't rack the exhaust cam 1 tooth off (Clockwise) and when the tensioner did its thing AFTER you adjusted your tensioner pulley (Which I hope you did correctly, the 2 holes should be at 9 and 12), your exhaust cam racked and you are now off by 1 tooth.

Check your timing marks on you cams, you can verify your crank by pulling out the #1 spark plug, sticking a screw driver down the hole and rotating your crank until the crank comes up on TDC. Your 2 timing marks should be in line. I'll bet dollars to donughts your exhaust cam is 1 tooth off. :)

the best way i found to keep the cams at TDC when doing timing is to take two wrenches and get the cams lined up with the belt on them but loose at the bottom. Make sure the belt falls into the teeth and then put a zip tie around the belt and through the cam at 9oclock on the exhaust and 3oclock on the intake and this will keep the top of your motor lined up while you do the bottom. Those big black paper clip things work well too.

I also have a question for you guys, not to hijack the thread. I have a 6bolt motor with a 2g timing cover on it and am really not sure how to check my timing with a light since the marks on the 2g cover are in a different spot than on a 1g.
