Hello, I bought a 97 na eclipse the rs. When i first started driving it the oil Light would randomly flash. With that said yesterday I was driving it and the light came on solid. I pulled over and checked and my oil was low. I added oil ( 5w30 ) I live in Ny so its cold, I did my research and it could be my pump ( not likely from what I read) , faulty wires/ it came loose, or the sender unit. The thing that is wierd to me is that when the car is idle the light is off when it is curseing speed te light is off but when i give it a good amount of gas it comes on. When I get off the gas the light comes off. The snow here is still pretty bad so I can't take the the car into my garage to work on it because of the snow/ice.Does anyone know what could cause this?

most likely its due to your oil being low enough for the pickup to suck the pan dry and or the oil is sloshing away from the pickup, most likely you're probably burning oil or have a leak

i would make sure the level is topped off (to the full mark) and see if you still have the issue

I filled it up and that's is when this new issue of the light only coming on when I give it gas and when I take it off the light comes off.

Check your wires and connector going to the sending unit. It's on the back of the block on the left (driver's) side. If all is okay, I would start with replacing the sending unit.

So i drove the car home and the light did not come on at all, I really need to get under this car asap.

there is a good chance your rings could be going and causing you to burn a lot of oil. check the color of the oil around 500 to 1k miles after you change it. If it is black, most likely, you need rings and it is only going to get worse.

if it is running well, as you said, get under the car and check the oilpan and Oring at the sending unit for a leak. very prone to leaking especially with many miles on the car.

It is running well, the car has 91k miles. But with age i know things start to go. Its just that theres so much snow its blocking the access to my garage.

Oil light during hard accelation?

Had the exact same problem and it was a bare oil pressure switch lead wire that was accidentally grounding when the engine was moving against the bump stops under acceleration.

Hi I didn't want to make another thread so I decided to post here

I have a 95 RS.

When I drive I notice the oil light flashes on/off randomly sometimes for like .5 a second and doesn't stay on. My oil is full for it to come on.

Looking for any possible answer, thank you!
