Just a quick question to run by the wiring people. After much searching and looking through the neverending disagreement about the correct way to wire a slim fan, I decided to go with the people that say to just wire it to the low speed.

Now my question is. Can I run 2 fans, one wired to the low speed radiator fan wires and the other wired to the high speed radiator fan wires. That way I have one fan running for normal cooling and two fans running when it gets hotter. Otherwise I'll probably just run one fan off the low speed.

Any thoughts or ideas on whether that would work?

Whatever you feel like contributing. Electronics isn't really my thing so I couldn't figure it out on my own, hence the thread.:thumb:

I never thought about that fan not staying on. I was under the impression that it just gave extra current through the high speed wires, or does it just switch over to those wires and the low speed is no longer powered? Maybe make the high speed power also switch a relay to keep the low speed going? This is starting to get more complicated then I wanted...

I also run 2 slim fans. How do I do this? I now have them ran to a switch, and this is not ideal for me.

The 2G docs aren't clear. The electrical schematics imply that both stock fans are two speed fans but the 2G tech manual shows that the radiator fan is a one speed fan with a resistor.

The ECU fan control signals are low current switching to ground. Stock they would be attached to relay coils and the relays switch the power to the fans. I would continue using the relays. It also looks the ECU can deal with load of pulling two relay coils to ground so we should be able to make this work.

You need to decide what you want to happen when you turn the AC on. Stock that would cause the condensor fan to run on low.

I took my a/c out, so I just won't touch the button. I just want 1 fan on for low and 2 fans on for high while using as much of the stock wiring as possible (or all of it preferably).

It may be as simple as connecting the radiator fan to both the white/red and white/blue positive wires on it's connector and on the condensor fan only to the blue/white positive wire on it's connector. It doesn't matter which of the ground wires you use so it's easier to remember the black wire on each connector.

That should cause the radiator fan to run for both low and high speeds and condensor fan to run only when the ECU switches to high.

Not sure if its true or not but I read that there is still power to the low circuit when the ecu switches to the high mode as some would just wire to the low side of the circuit (while others would wire both high & low to the main fan) If this is the case he should just be able to wire the low to the reg fan (which should stay on for both low & high mode) & wire the high side to the second fan?

Yes, if it's the case that the low switch stays active then that's all they need to do. It's simple to check and if it doesn't work then they can tie in both on the radiator side.

^Exactly. Thanks for the help. I'll try it and post back for anyone else's future reference.
