Well, after driving my car for the last 8 months since I bought it, my car would only make 2psi on the stock boost gauge. After 8 months of driving the car as is, I finally started to mod it. I cut open the aircan, and finished installing my boost gauge. Result: 3psi max. Why? MY WASTEGATE ACTUATOR WAS DISCONNECTED! So after strenuously trying to move it, I finally got it to lock onto whatever piece that is on the turbo. WOW! I can't belive how much faster my car is! I just have two questions:

1) My only mods are the free ones, yet my boost gauge reads 15psi (I don't have a manual boost controller). I don't feel comfortable boosting that high without exhaust or anything (and it's 15psi at around 4500 rpm's. What would cause this and how can I fix it?

2) After trying several times to fix the broken BCS nipple, all of which were unsuccessful, I'm wondering if I can bypass it somehow? Or I'll just look for another one. Right now the vacuum line going from the intercooler to the BCS is disconnected. What will that cause?

Thanks guys. I am so pumped about this.

This causes #1, as well as a rich air/fuel mix.

The boost signal is getting bled off. If you cap off that line, your boost should lower to about 10PSI max (for now.) Once you get your supporting mods, put on a manual boost controller up it.

Congrats on the faster car. :D

is the waste gate supposed to open and close when you accelerate in neutral?

Thanks for the responses. After searching I see that an MBC can bypass the BCS, so I just ordered one. I'm not looking to add any more boost until I get supporting mods, but I figure it will be easier than replacing the BCS. I can also hear my BOV pretty well now. :thumb:

DeadlyBlaze - I can't speak for everyone, but my car does not boost in neutral.

ROFL I'm sorry but that's too funny. :tease:

I think you meant free-revving it in neutral, you can't accelerate in neutral unless you're going down hill. The answer to your question is no, wastgate is controlled by the actuator which is activated by boost signal. If you have external dump tube and you hear it open during free-revv, your wastegate is probably not completely shut or the actuator arm is off.
