wtf? something is wrong. plz help

I was driving today and the click my car usually makes had become louder almost like a knocking sound. It started shuddering pretty bad when i sped up enough in 4th or 5th to get the stock boost gauge to move. Well it started doing that really bad for a sec and then i couldn't accelerate at all. If i pushed the gas pedal down nothing happened. The car just kept slowing down and i could hear the knock/click sounding like it was winding down. I took it out of gear and my car died. I tried to start with key and i just made a type of fan noise. I put it back in gear and popped the clutch and i just made the winding sound again.
Can somebody plz tell me what is wrong so i can hopefully fix it and have my car back again.
