New Jersey sucks for having a nice car damnit :thumbdown .

Here we are first stuck with the highest insurance rates in the nation . Then we get banged with all the shit ass roads here, with some of the worst drivers ever. Don't even think about going anywhere and forgetting to lock your door, because your car will be gone before you turn around after you own a fast car, and someone else knows about it, you're a damn target . Screw this place.

I just got pulled over in college place, wa last night (a burb of walla walla) the cops are complete dicks in college place. I acctually was pulled over at my destination, I had pulled my car to a stop, hit the lights and was halfway out of the car when he hit his lights.

He said that I had a licence plate light out (there are two of them ) and also noted that my exhaust is illegal since it isn't stock. I wasn't in the mood to argue and get a ticket, but I hadn't done anything illegal ( i was going 5 under since i know the cops are dicks) hell I was even in 4th gear @ 25mph just to be extra quiet.

I said to the officer that theres lots of noisy cars and i don't think that it is a law about modifed exhaust, just sound levels. He said that I was wrong and that mistsubishis are not supposed to be that loud but old muscle cars/harleys are (cars I noted as being loud)

It was a waste of time but I was very respectful over all and was let off of course, but I need to do some reasearching/printing of the laws so I can prove my case (I have the feeling this is going to be happening a lot)

really folks there is no need to argue cali is the worst state to ever own a modded car in end of mother ####ing story!!! seriously now other states may be bad for bad roads(drive down the 101 or el camino and talk to me about bad roads), but cali is the worst as far as laws go hands down. The cops are assholes, that harass imports to no extent. Listen to this.

I am driving down the highway the other day I am going 65mph in the slow lane. So a cop pulls past me, then slows down gets behind me, follows me for ten ####ing miles right on my ass. then pulls me over.

this is what he pulled me over for, no front plate(he pulled me over one week earlier for the same thing) i showed him the reciept for the dmv showing that I did in fact go and pay to have another sent to me but he didn't care and gave me ANOTHER ticket for it. this time however he decided he wanted me to pop my hood. Luckily for me I was stock at the time. He still gave me shit about my k&n even though the carb sticker was not half an inch away on the maf itself(I almost got written up for it), he spends at least 15 min looking under the hood, then tries and give me shit for my turbo timer saying that they are illegal this and that. Then he gets out the ####ing measuring stick and see's how low I am, I am lowered so I don't know how I passed that. then he says "can you put your car in reverse I want to make sure your reverse lights are leagal" wtf is that shit???. he then procedes to check under my car for a cat. and then to top it off makes me wind up my windows to make sure I don't have tint. The same mother ####er pulled me over not a week before for the same thing.. Harasment anyone??

that's not all my friend who has a two tone mr2 got a ticket for 2 tone paint job and having rims taht were to big(17's) . the judge threw the ticket out but it was still a waste of a day having to sit in court dealing with bullshit. if you have an import don't move to cali. I was with a group of my friends, they all had cobras fbodies etc.. at least 10 all hella loud(exhaust, cams, etc...) and one friend with a civic that was almost stock. guess who gets pulled over not any of the obscenely loud domestics, yup you guessed it the civic.

#### this shitty state and the cops in it :thumbdown . As soon as I have enough money to move I am the #### out of this place. I have been pulled over probably 35-40 times no exageration and out of all those times only given a ticket twice. I get pulled over just so I can get harrased nothing more. so if you move to cali have fun.

If I get pulled over again I'm probably going to file a complaint. If it happens again after that I will likely contact a lawyer for legal advice. I'm not a man to be oppressed. I don't live in america to be bullied by small town cops. :thumbdown

If you had some cash, and were repeatedly harrased it wouldn't be a terrible idea to find a lawyer and file a harrasment suit. If you can prove that you've been in the right and have missed work or important events then you'll win some cash and put pompus cops in their place.

not having a front plate = probable cause to search under the hood. They say it makes the car looks suspicious or something. I was talking to a cop friend of mine(the cops in my town are cool especially since I give them their coffee, I love starbucks !!) and he said that if you don't have a front plate they can infact MAKE you pop your hood. this was the first time I have ever been asked to pop my hood so this was a first. once I get my front plate they can kiss my ass.

About Illinois, the only massive pothole problems are in Chicago. Outside of Chicago, most roads are nice and straight

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the police CAN search your car without a warrant. That's because it's deemed easily movable evidence. So if they pull you over on suspicion of a broken law (or are harassing you on some exhaust ticket) they have the ability to search your car for other illegal things. You can bi*** about how it's against the constitution, but that's the law. :thumbdown

exactly my point ...30 cars in a street race get-together, and 1/8 of them arrested on unrelated charges, Colorado, I think is the best place for modded cars.

Ohio isn't too bad i suppose, yea we have front plate laws and tint etc. But at least where I am they are realy if ever enforced. They will only get you if they saw u goin like 90 but didn't clock it or sumn. I've been pulled over planty of times and have never even been said a thing about not having a front plate or the like Limo tint on the Talon. My county also has emissions but once again, cops never check, you just have to throw a cat on once every two years for the test. My small city (2 sq. miles, like 8,000 people) has sweet cops, never gotten a ticket from them. They always just tell ya not to do it again and small talk for a bit. Might also help that one of thier little like deputy trainee cops is some chick from my former HS that has a "all-looks" '01 Neon R/T that wishes she could roll with us (shes real nasty tho, and her car has no go). So alot of times when a cop rolls into an empty parking lot we are chilling in, sure enough the little neon follows it in, the guy says "alright guys just keep it down people are trying to sleep, have fun" and leaves.

texas isnt bad but here in houston about 2 or three years ago, cops had a massive bust down on westheimer, they arrested over 200 kids for street racing, they even arrested people coming out of the kmart the kids were parked at(these were old people ,kids , these folks had shopping bags in their hands and were accused of street racing). The fall out is still going on several cops lost jobs including some higher ups, and street racing still continues. I've heard that toronto is terrible for modded cars, they tow if you have after market exhaust.

I agree with the roads being good in Illinois. We do have the toll road pumping funds into them... Chicago as with any metro area will be crappy in places.

No front plates sucks, no tint on front windows at all. Overall, not too bad so far, but my car is not crazy looking either. Why does any state care if your car is lowered? Isnt it better/safer anyway? I bet it is just because some people cut their springs and other dangeroust etc...

yea my dad got ticketed only once for having a novelty front plate (Grand national logo on it, with real Ohio plate in the rear) and his tinted windows once. It was while passing through Chicago on a business trip. Never caught any beef in Ohio for it. :thumbdown

No lie , once I got pulled over for swirving to get around a pot hole ( thought i was drunk ) when he found out i wasnt drunk he proceeded to let me know my stock bumper was illegal ( ride height ) , my fog lights illegal some BS about cuz its lowerd there aimed in people eyes now ? also tint is HUGE deal here he got me for that , told me my muffler was to loud , and that my decals were to destracting anyways he was being as dick but that beside the point the point is it was in PA actally i cant say PA cus a post or two ago i hear harrisburgh it ok this was noth versailles adn the are druly dicks, not just a dick head but the whole thing :thumbdown and i go to church before i go to get inspected :laugh:

the only thing I have to dispute about this, is that you are missing something that would put Pa, Maine, and NY ahead of the rest. WEATHER! if your car is modded, or lowered, forget about driving i 2/3 of the year as the roads will be covered in snow/ice/salt!

yup for 6 months i could not drive mt GS cuz of snow , ice , ect... my dad would joke around and ask me to plow the drive way for him

I've never had a problem with police in my area (Pittsburgh, PA.)

Shit, I'm running an open downpipe, which many of you know is ridiculously loud, and cops barely glance at me. I think that they think my car just has something wrong with it :laugh:

The snow isn't that bad, I drove my car all winter long.

Potholes are a problem, but even so, there are ways of getting around them.

All in all, I don't PA is too bad a place to be modified.
