well i was driving normal 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and when i got into 4th i let out of it and the car shook a little like the motor was dyin and then a big back fire...after that i drove around a little more and it never did it agian...its got me worried a bit not much but still what the heck was it..any in put would be nice:confused:

The only way to get a "backfire" is to get unburned fuel and air into the exhaust.

I would check all of the exhaust for leaks, broken bolts and poor gaskets. You can have someone hold a wet rag against the exhaust tip with the engine at idle while you inspect for leaks. Sometimes a 3' long section of old garden hose can be a good listening tool that you can direct around the exhaust manifold. This way you can exclude valve noises, fans, belts etc.

A bad or leaking EGR may be another possibility.

I wouldn't get too excited especially if you can't duplicate it and find no leaks. Remember you came off a wound up turbo and may have found a weakness in the transition that only happens in a blue moon.

it did it again today goin to work twice.and once commin home.other than that the car runs as it allways has.when i push the clutch in while its doin its weird thing the motor sounds fine.so loss of power only some times,push clutch in and its fine...hmmmm...

Argh!!

Do you know the difference between a backfire into the intake manifold and an afterfire (aka backfire) in the exhaust?? The reason for asking is to isolate causes which cause these 2 different problems.

Did you have time to check the exhaust for leaks? Have you been able to retrieve any codes? This could be any of several things besides what has already been mentioned. Temp sensor, O2, ECU, spark plugs, throttle, burned valve, injector to mention a few.

Check the exhaust first for it's not too stressful and time consuming. (10-20 minutes. Pull any codes and record them.

Besides what GTM have suggested, your fpr overrun issue can also be the cause of your backfiring.
 
i know i have exhaust leaks dont care about that.its the lose off power like if dont gear down goin up a hill is what it seems like but the clutch is fine,plugs,wires,o2,ecu...its all brand new only 4000 miles on it all.well like u said ill pull codes monday and let u know

First, any chance that we could use Caps and Grammar, it makes reading a bit easier.

I wouldn't spend too much with the codes _until_ you get the explosions in the exhaust fixed. If you don't understand take a small hammer and bang on the block while the engine is running.

You can't expect the engine to produce power when a stick of dynamite has just gone off in the exhaust and tripped the knock sensor going maximum retard.

Fix the leaks then go for a drive and pull codes.

im woundering is the fuel pressure suppose to stay constant,mines at 30 psi at idle then i rev motor and it goes up to 40.if i remmember, it never has done that before.

A dead / dying battery, charging system, slipping belt will allow the voltage to drop and not fire the plugs properly.

When linking to images that are not hosted here on DSMtuners (like ImageStation for example), if they are larger than 700 pixels wide, please just post a link to it. Do not use the BB IMG code to make it display inline, use the BB URL code instead. Why you ask? Page load times and display reasons. Large images cause slow load times and cause the page to be displayed funny for most people. If the moderators come across large images, they will likely replace them with a hyperlink for faster page loads and better page displays. Attachment uploads (which are hosted on our server) are limited to 700 pixels.

well i fixed it myself, as always with out your help.grammar please,if thats all your worried about in this place, we'll get know were.its not about how we spell but about our cars.if this is how its gonna be shut the site down!LOL...its funny though you couldn't even figure out the problem.why cause all the crap you put in here so other people were like damn thats not right,its people like you that make this harder than it is.well my car is running good again and faster then yours so don't be mad at me(grammar boy)...LOLoLOLoLOL...peace out...oldman ...gtm

LOL Why take it so personal? It's too bad that you feel so strongly against a policy that serves many purposes when it only requires minimal effort on your part. Whether you agree with the policy or not, it is my job to enforce it. I'm glad you were able resolve your problem and you're welcome to post a thread in the feedback section if you dissagree with our policies.
