Yes. Most people associate the "coast-down rumble" to the some part of the multi-piece driveshaft. There is a VFAQ somewhere on how to shoot in silicone sealant to reduce the noise without causing binding.

If your getting alot of drive train noise on decel from the rear, it the gearlash on the pinion that it out of wack.

The gear lash is set by a thrust washer, and over time the washer wears down slightly changing how the pinion contacts the ring rear.

You can either deal with the noise or pull the rearend apart and install new thrust washers for the pinion and set the gear lash correctly. Is actually not hard to do, just time consuming.

im bringin this thread back to life since no one has posted on it lately. this problem seems to more and more after a clutch install. if the shaft becomes missaligned how would you even straghten it back out? none of the mounts are adjustable. if the trans isnt lined up how would you be able to bolt it back up to the block without snapping the belhousing? this problem is pissing me off and it wasnt doing this before i ripped it all apart. ANYONE?
