Here's my problem, I bought my 1996 N/T Eclipse with a hacked in headunit, which they removed when I bought it. I have since taken my headunit and now have been sitting in my seat... looking at the wiring diagrams wondering why 1. My cluster lights and dome light doesn't work, 2. Why my key alarm doesn't work when I leave the key in the ignition with the door open, 3. Where the heck is the Red/Black wire for the constant 12v supply, and lastly 4. What does the Red wire with the silver dot go to?

Any help???

Thanks!

Time to go out and buy a volt meter. I had the same issues with the current car... now the harness is beautiful! I rewired everything by hand... made some mistakes and got it all together soo insanly gorgeous!

First check fuses... then try this out... where one of the bulbs go that aren't turned on if there are no fuses blown, ground out the ground wire... see if it will turn things on? I have a burnt ground somewhere that I cannot find. So I just took one of the interior lights that I'm not using, cut the wire and grounded it to the chassis. Lost my dimmer... but oh well...

plus one.....fuses are my bet, especially if the person who had it before had it hacked in.

Well I'm still wondering what the red wire with silver dot on it is.. may it be possible that it's the constant. I used a test light and it did light on that specific wire when the ignition was off, that would lead me to believe that it was the 12V+ Constant wire. There wouldn't really be any other wires in that area that are always on would there?

I've also checked the fuses.... and I don't see any blown.. any hints there? What fuse would I be looking for.

Last question.... Would any wires in the harness cause that problem... the illumination/dimmer wire? When hooking up my headunit, I saw it has an illumination/dimmer wire.. but it says it's just for the signal, because it doesn't dim with the dimmer switch, just automatically when it detects the signal.

Thanks!

I use that constant 12v red/silver wire for "memory wire" on my CD player.

You would think so huh? Both this car and my black car had a blown ground... and I still haven't figured out where. So I just physically ground one of the wires to the chassis and it fixed everything... except no dimmer switch. But it doesn't really matter since I have aftermarket faces.

So since the illumination wire from the harness is only on when the headlights are on, wouldn't I hook that to the illumination/dimmer wire on my cd player? The manual says when it receives signal it automatically dims. It doesn't dim with the dimmer switch.

What do you guys think?
