I just got my 1g dsm and I was wondering if anyone knows if they will start in -40 to -50 degrees F weather without a block heater. My old car did but I sold it. Here in Montana you get the worst of both worlds 107F in the summer and -50F in the winter LOL.

OMG I had no idea it got that cold anywhere in the US.:ohdamn: Thanks for teaching me something. If it were me I would definitely run one. That is DAMN COLD and it would have to help the car start easier and help the whole engine out on cold starts. Good luck with that cold weather.:thumb:

Yeah, I would get one. DSM's tend to have a tought time starting in that cold. It depends on the car though. I would rather be prepared that have it not start. I am dreading the -40 -50 mornings coming in the next few months. :barf:

i would get one to.. my eclipse starts pretty good in the winter but once it hit -30 below it doesnt want to start up

I would get one just to help out. I lived in Wyoming for a year so i know how you feel. It got down to -40. I never had a problem myself but i lived there for a year. I think it cant hurt to get one. Good luck.
