Today I was taking off my wiper arms to paint them, as well as the cowl trim. The center (passenger side) nut on the wiper came off fine, no problems, so I expected the driver side nut to come off just as easy. First turn I made on the socket sheared the stud, most of stuck in flush with the nut, and not enough is left on the stud for a new nut to catch.
My temp solution will be to drill into what is left of the stud and thread in a screw with a fat head just to hopefully hold the wiper arm on.
For a proper solution, how does one get that stud out? It appears to be held into a rubber boot of some kind, and I have no idea how that is held to the body of the car. Couldn't find anything in my Haynes manual obviously, useless thing.
I will try my local Mitsu dealer to see if this part even exists in their system, or else I will hit up some junkyards to find the piece.
