Will you see a boost leak?

Oxygen is pretty much invisible, but it does have a blue tint over long distances :) Smart-assedness aside, oil seepage is normal at hose-to-pipe joints on charge pipes, so that won't indicate a leak. This is one reason I think the soap method and looking for any tiny amount of bubbling is just insane. You will hear any boost leak that will actually affect the car.

A boost leak is metered air (read by your maf sensor) leaking out of hoses, piping, gaskets, etc. before it makes it's way in to your engine. Unless you have a magic ability to see air, you will need to use a boost leak tester and listen for it. You could also use soapy water in a spray bottle to spray pipes and look for bubbles (air).

thanks man, oh and i just replaced my gas tank cause it had a small leak would that make the car perform a little worse than usual i just got the car about a month ago and clutch is going out and had a small gas leak and the car bogs a little bit i was just hoping the clutch was the reason it bogs a little bit in 4th gear

A leak in the fuel line will cause the car to run weird, even if it is a tiny pin-hole. I had a leak like that in my fuel line and I could just smell gas fumes. The hole was so small the gas atomized right away and there was no liquid trace on the ground. I had to get under the car and trace the entire fuel line with a flash light and I finally saw a misty jet of gas spraying. A leak in the tank wouldn't cause problems, though.

yeah same here i could smell it and mine was small but it was drippiing slowly. If i had a boost leak would the car bog in every gear? cause im pretty sure its just my clutch that is making it do that cause it only happens every now and then

also bad rings (but with rings youll smoke iwhile in boost) valve seals can leak boost even around the orings around the injectors. throttle body gaskets, and intake gasket...
even check you vacuum lines.
do a boost leak test and spray down your pipes and hose clamps and get the throttle body real good with soapy water and look for bubbling.
check the biss screw oring.
my throttle body blew out seals, so def check the throttle body especially around the throttle spring

and yes just like lack of air, lack of fuel pressure will affect boost.

I agree with some of what jbl said sounds like a boost leak.

go under intake and go to intake leak great article and even greater site if your first starting out. At this point reading will be your friend good luck i have faith in you

Bad rings aren't a boost leak. With a properly functioning PCV system bad rings would extend fuel cut because it is added mass to the gas entering AFTER the MAF/S.

thanks everybody! i tested and no boost leaks!! i had loss boost from the gas leak on the gas tank and a few other things need replaced in the fuel pump i just bought all the parts and installling them this weekend. i wanna post some pictures next weekend
