so, while replacing a valve cover gasket today, I noticed that the wires aren't even attached to my intake air temp sensor. and i can't find the wires for it, like they were cut off.

Will this cause a big problem?

the car's been sluggish but I didn't think that would contribute. I haven't had the car that long, got it off of craigslist.

Its up to you whether or not you want to fix it. Not having one is really just gonna give you bad gas mileage.
