Will a 1g starter bracket with 2g transmission work?

I am doing a 6 bolt swap. I bolted my 2g trans to my 6 bolt and used the 1g starter bracket. I forgot that I was suppose to use a 2g starter bracket for this swap. I noticed that the starter bracket seemed a little off and one of the starter bolts wont go into the trans because the bracket is in the way just a little bit. If I trim some of the bracket away then I will be able to bolt on the starter. Will the starter line up properly with the flywheel if I keep it this way and will using a 1g starter bracket give me any other problems if I use it instead of the 2g bracket?
