2g eclipse with 155K miles, stock turbo boosted to 14psi
Wife was driving the car, heard a pop and car started to overheat
My guess was headgasket for sure. White smoke out of the tailpipe, sweet smell.
Coolant reservior empty, could be consumption and leak from reservior (coolant on LICP)
No visible coolant leaks during operation, compression 170-160-175-170
Spark plugs normal wear(NGK 7s), 1 gap was at 32, regapped all to .28; perfect idle
Oil leak identified in vicinity of oil cooler
no oil or water in LICP. T-25 has minimal lateral shaft play and spins freely.

Want to eliminate all options before executing an unnecessary headgasket/timing belt change.
Further investigation path will be looping back coolant lines from turbo and oil cooler to help narrow search.
Need to run coolant sample to have it tested for oil.

Can the turbo fail in a way to inject water in the exhaust?
When the cooler is damaged, does it contaminate the oil like a blown headgasket?

No bubbles in coolant and looked over the oil cooler leak(it is oil from the crank seal). Added coolant to the reservior and it seemd to help but not eliminate the problem. Need some 3/8 hose to loopback tonight.

if you have a blown headgasket you can also check the deepstick to see if there is any water in the oil.
