Yep thats my doubt which one is better? And what is the diameter of the 2g manifold in inches??

Thanks i dunno

Yes to everything, but if you want it to even make a little difference, you need to remove the head and have it ported by someone who knows how to. Just bellingout the ports on the 2G head won't do a thing. You need to spend about 5-7 hours porting roughly. I'm on 5 with my 2G head that I am hogging out (using carbide burrs).

Here is what your looking at for port matching. I personally wouldn't do this mod because the port has to be lowered so much, and that is not the kind of air flow you want into the head.

You want air to come down at the valve .....not across the bottom of the port at it.

Why don't you just swap the head to the 1G as well, instead of porting? It is my understanding that with out porting the 2G head the mani is usuless and port the 2G head is hard and time consuming (don't you have to take the head out of the engine). With a 1G head you don't have to do any porting, the swap still is timing consuming, but the gains, I believe, are a better. I know with the 1G head swap they are around 40hp.

Well i found a guy with a machine shop around my area that with port out the intake side for only a $100. It it just sounds easier & cheaper, since i could not find a 1G head with low miles in good condition.

There is no sense in putting a 1G manifold on a 2G head. You will probably hurt more than you help.

There are gains to be had by adding the 1G TB to a ported 2G intake but thats about it.

As recommended above....if you want to see true gains you have to go with the 1G head which is probably less work than porting a 2G head to match 1G intake.

Besides hogging out a head rarely provides better flow. You need to flow bench it to ensure you are not doing more harm than good.

Instead of swapping manifolds and recklessly porting a 2g head, you would be much better off getting a 2G SMIM and keeping the 2G head in its stock form.

ok so i hear all this talk about putting a 1g head on 2g it gets better compression and putting a 1g intake manifold on a 2g it flows better. When i first got my gst it was all stock that i new of but every stock gst i raced i beat, didnt kno why it pulled alot harder then a normal stock gst, i raced a gst that this guy just bought 1 owner had only like 60k miles on it and i had a 100k at the time and i spanked him by like lil over 2 cars, how can i tell if i have a 1g intake manifold dif from 2g, and 1g head dif from 2g?

is it worth paying 150 for a 1g manifold ported and polished? the guy told me its ported and polished to the max.. "w/e that means", he is also throwing in a HKS ssq for 150. ..

what overall condition is the manifold in? does it come w/ throttle body and tbody tube? Check for cracks and any other misleading problems w/ it. it all depends on whether you think it is a good deal. you can probly find a regular non ported 1g mani for cheaper on the classifieds and port it yourself.

i guess its good deal i guess...ohh also a greddy timing belt for 80 bucks.. and one more thing what BOV is better from experience Greddy type-S or RS or the hks ssq?

wow and iv been selling 1g intake mani's for 15 bucks a peice shipped. maybe i should port them and sell them for 150 ROFL

Maybe you should.. LOL!

Any way.. :coy: how much shipped??..why so cheap

any way the greddy timing belt is alot stronger than the factory at WOT a timing will obviosly start to stretch out.. depending on the condition is how much it stretches ... until it breaks.. the greddy timing is alot more durable and all these peice he is selling only been used for on dyno time.. got a 500 horsepower gs-r no need for his dsm.. parting it out
plus he lives about 10 minutes from me here in florida so no shipping hassles

I just part out 1gs alot and the intake manifolds are one thing that just lays around and never gets sold. Every once in a while a 2g guy will buy one from me, other wise off to the scrap metal yard for most of them.

How do you figure? Its a huge upgrade for you 2G guys just like your exhaust mani is an upgrade for us 1G guys.

Are you joking? Have you ever seen a 2g head and 1g head side by side? The port difference is crazy. If you put a 1g intake manifold on a 2g head, then sure it's "bigger", but all the air will basically be hitting a brick wall when it goes up to where the manifold meets the head.

You would have to portmatch the head to the manifold and given the amount of material available on a 2g head it's damn near impossible to make this worthwhile. Not to mention going too deep with the port job you will most likely hit a coolant pocket. If you want a 1g manifold that bad then do a whole 1g head swap. Another minor detail to think about is that the 1g intake manifolds don't have the mount for the map sensor. Not really worth the hassle imo.
