I have a 97 awd tsi talon, right now its not much, but I'm in the process of fuel mods and a e316g. My plans are to eventually reach the area of 550hp. Mods in profile.

I've been searching around alot for a clutch set up. I know I am going Act and I will be running a streetlite flywheel. I dont want to have to buy parts more than once, thats the reason for this post. I was thinking about a 2600 with street disk or sprung 6 puck, but I didnt think it would hold up, once the power starts to raise. I then threw around the idea of a 2900, because they have more clamping force and I read they require less pedal effort.

How are the 6puck DD, or it overkill for my setup.

The options are: 2600 street disk
2600 sprung 6 puck
2900 street disk
2900 sprung 6 puck
or, setup you find appropriate...

I would like something that my transmission can handle, and its aweful DD. Which combo would be able to handle the power and be moderate to drive on the street.

The price isnt an issue, I just need the right combo so I dont have to buy a new clutch later and dont get something that I cant DD.

All info is appreciated, Alex.

I personally run the 2600 with 6 puck and it's not too bad on the streets at all and will hold your power goal with no issues. Also, if price is no issue, look into a Quarter Master (correct me if I'm wrong on the brand name) twin disc setup. I hear they are a lot easier to drive on the streets and can handle any amount of power you throw at them.

if your dead set on the act clutch system then go with a 2600 pressure plate and an unsprung 6 puck or 4 puck -- those will hold your hsp goals -- it will be a rough DD but the sprung act 6 puck has been known to break the springs in the clutch disk itself and cause failure

the act brand makes GREAT Pressure Plates,, not so much on their sprung disk and 6 puck --- there 6puck and 4 puck unsprung are ok because you really cant screw those up hahha

personally id try to find a twin disk set up -- i know they make them for evo s and if money isnt an object then id look for an excedy twin disk -- its a stock pedal feel and its not as harsh on your hydrolic system as a 2600 PP would be

long life too --

but look into it

good luck bro

a 2600 with street disk is only rated for 400 torque, and a 6puck sprung isnt much higher -- i forget that one but your goals will make those slip IMO

I meant the price between the ones listed LOL, I am a college student. Any opinions on the 2900 and or disks

clutchnet disks are the way to go -- act disks break springs CONSTENTLY on cars pushing a little over 300 hsp and will most deffinatly fail on you if your looking at 500hsp or over

go with the 2900 if youd like -- your gonna need a steel braded hydrolic line running from your slave to your masters -- the 2900 will blow right through the stock one you have --

in my experience the bigger the pressure plate the more clutch related problmes your gonna have -- but hope you experince is different

go look up a clutchnet disk and see how the springs are in there, the design will help the springs out -- if you get an act disk your really asking for trouble and broken springs

Clutchnet 6 puck sprung hb:hellyeah: Holding up on my setup I killed 3 street disk with a 2900 pp before i went to the clutchnet 6puck. I would run a steal act flywheel also.

Your pretty far from meeting your goal of 550 HP. You'll need a built block, head, turbo, fuel system, FMIC, turbo, etc... which will end up costing a lot of $$$. Focus on other areas, do not go to a 2900 first.

I understand the other requirments of the build and the cost that will come with it. Thats why I dont wanna keep buying parts and upgrade them later. If the car can handle a 2900 w/ correct support, then why not buy 1 clutch and save money in the long run.

Dsm8883- the clutchnet 6 puck and act 2900, how is DD. And streetlite, or prolite?
