Which BOV will fit in the same holes as 1G BOV?

Okay so I bought a crushed 1G BOV and I think it's TOO crushed. It flutters at lower RPM (2,000). Will the Greddy BOV fit in the same exact places the 1G BOV is bolted into on the UICP?

First off, let me say that I do not want to scare off any potential buyers of the Forge CBVs. From what I can tell, the vast majority of people who've had experiences with their products are extremely happy. I just seem to be one of the few people that has had problems. I still back Forge up with putting out a solid product and having outstanding customer service.

But I digress...

I talked to Patrick over at Forge (yes, he's on the site as a member too) about this issue back in the fall of '07. (I still have the PM in my box! OMG) He relayed to me that Forge uses Mobil fully synthetic Mobilith SHC 220 grease for this (and probably other) compressor bypass valves. I tried to find this exact grease at local automotive stores (yeah, right) and online. Didn't find anything that looked very appealing. So I had to settle for some Valvoline grease I found at NAPA.

Now I don't have the tube in front of me now, but I believe I picked up the Synpower Synthetic grease tube, which contains lithium. You can read a brief overview on their site here. Anyways, Patrick told me to stay away from white greases, which contains chemicals that will tend to break down the o-rings that Forge uses. This grease is black/dark grey in color.

As I said before, I gave it a good lube job. Everything from the piston to the inner chamber walls and o-ring got a healthy dose. I did make sure that I didn't over-do it and clog up the vacuum hole at the top of the CBV. That could have led to even worse issues.

And if no one got the hint, I did already send my Forge back to have the revised lock ring installed. There are a couple other threads about that which does not cover my issue. Click here for one.

Since we're on the topic, I also prefer the "daily driving" quality of the 1G CBV to the Forge. In my experience, the Forge was more of an "on/off" CBV, with a slightly rough transition from holding boost to releasing the pressure back into the intake tract. Any additional thoughts welcome.

(Again, perhaps it's just my particular CBV that's acting weird, as I don't hear others complaining.)

This is the case with my 1G BOV, I think it may be crushed a bit too much, but it does release when needed. I can control the bucking with my gas pedal, just didn't think I would have to do so. It's okay for now, I rather save the $200 for a dyno tune. Thanks for all the responses guys.

why not go on ebay and buy another 1g bov. youll spend a whole $25, and it will bolt right up.
i just bought 2 1g bov's for $35 counting shipping on ebay.

Do you need both? I'll buy one from you for $25 shipped if you want.

My project is almost done. I have a couple of 1g BOV's. What are the advantages to crushing the BOV? Will I gain anything? I would try it, but I don't want to screw it up.

Crushing it correctly will enable the BOV to hold more boost than it was meant for.

I had a crushed 1g bov on my car and ran 20psi with no problem. I didn't have it on for that long because i got a type-s. It works good if crushed properly.
