Where to put exhaust probe?

Right now i have the stock 2G exhaust manifold and the exhaust probe for the egt gauge mounted off the #1 runner of the exhaust manifold. My question is that where do most people place them when u have a tubular style manifold?

I don't have one, but I thought I read in a post once that they come with a bung allready welded in. Hope this helps.

Some say #1 is best because it supposedly will get the leanest mixture and runs hottest (I don't buy it) and others say it's better after the turbo so when (not if) the thermocouple melts it doesn't pass through the blades.
Like so much else, your opinion here will be about as valid as anyone else's. The value in EGT readings isn't so much in a concrete numerical value as it is in a trend.

Which is why I have mine in my O2 housing.

I just wanted to thank you guys for the good info here. I have an opportunity to place mine anywhere I want now, and I think I'll put it in my o2 housing now.
