I'm looking to make a test pipe. I need a recommendation on where to buy the materials for the best price. I need two flanges and some pipe. Also is there a recommended thickness? (I found some that's 1/16" is that too thin?) My current hi-flow cat is 2.75 inner diameter and 29.5in long flange to flange.

Also if anyone has the materials and can make it, send me a PM.

Just get one off ebay, they are so damn cheap that making one is almost a waste of time. The megan racing ones are nice, that's what I got. otherwise there is the POS that the flanges are crooked, I have one in my garage I would give you 89-94 Eclipse Talon Exhaust GST 1G 3" Test Pipe | eBay , I believe it will work for a 2g, I think they are pretty much the same, I know the megan testpipe is the same for a 1g and 2g.

Contact megan and ask them, I am pretty sure they have the dimensions somewhere. What down pipe and cat back do you have? And now that I think about it I have a FWD and 1 and 2gs are the same, for an awd 1 and 2g cats are completely different and you need to make sure you get a 2g test pipe from megan. For me it was a $100 well wasted and the megan pipe muffles your exhaust a little so it's not so damn rappy and loud and it looks like a cat.

It's funny, I guess they don't make a 3" megan test pipe for a 2g. What I did find was a down pipe that eliminates the cat for cheap. But like I said it get rappy and annoying and backfires all the time if you just put a straight through testpipe, You will probably get pulled over eventually.

I would say your best option would be to smash out the insides of your cat and call it good. I know it's a waste of money but hell it's your easiest option.

I just wanted to make my own because I want to keep my cat for inspection ect. I have an RRE downpipe 2.25-to-3" a 3" RRE cat and an apexi 3" catback. It's so quiet that you wouldn't even know it had an exhaust. I just want to change it up for a little. I don't know of any exhaust shops around so I was browsing eBay for cheap piping and flanges. I keep finding materials at $100-150+ and that isn't what I'm looking to spend.

why not go to your local exhaust shop and see if they got some scrap pipe out back...or just buy a 29.5" straight pipe from jcwhitney and two flanges off RRE? either that im sure your local exhaust shop could make you one up for around 50$ if you cannot weld it yourself. just tell them its for a track car, and bolt it up yourself at home.
