Well, long story short, Fedex delivered this tranny('99 GSX shep stg 4) to me with the following damage:

I have searched and googled but cannot find where to buy an OEM bellhousing. Maybe I am just stupid and looking for the wrong things. But if somebody could help me out that would be much appreciated! Thanks.

id contact fedex also -
I also think it can be welded - that ear should have plenty of positive location
to be able to put back in its right place.

I would definitely call fedex about that. If that was dropped, think of what else could possibly be damaged internally. Probably nothing, but I would call them and make them pay for that and someone to inspect the tranny as well just to be safe. You don't want to get that thing in and then something else be damaged.

According to CAPS, the part number for a 1999 GSX transmission clutch housing (bell housing) is MD739932. Rockville Mitsubishi, http://mitsupartsdirect.com/index.html (1-800-962-9974) shows it as a special order item and costs $383.29 with DSM discount. Call them or any other dealer and see if they can still get it. Just so you know, I tried to get a new transmission from a dealer for my son's car over a year ago and was told only rebuilt ones were available. You may be out of luck with a new housing, but it is worth a shot.

Also, check with John Shepard. He had an extra housing in his shop and used that when he rebuilt my son's 1998 GST transmission.

Thanks for the help everybody. Yes it was insured for the full amount. Currently FedEx are being very slow and giving me the run around. I am going to try and get my full insurance amount. However, they want to take the tranny back to their "terminal" so a "inspector" can check it out. However, I am trying to force them to come out here and do their "checking" because they want to continue to move that tranny around in the current horrible "reynolds wrap" pacakaging.
