OK i think the turbo is shot on my 90 awd talon. i need a new turbo, but my car is stock so im not ready for a 16g or anything like that. where is the cheapest place to buy a new 14b?? i know you can get used ones cheap but i dont trust used turbos just from past experience. thanks

I'm not sure how much a new 14b cost but I would think for a little bit more you could get a 16g. Unless you aren't planning to upgrade you turbo OMG then there is no point in buying a new stock one and turning around a couple months later to upgrade it. You can run a 16g on a stock car as long as you keep your boost low. If you are really set on getting a new 14b you could email slowboy or someone like that and I'm sure they could order you one.

DO NOT BUY A NEW 14b!!!!!

You can run a small 16g on you're car with no problems, Stock. It is basically a replacement when you're 14b goes. You can get one starting at only $485.00, That is like buying a candy bar!

If you go to the dealer for a new 14b, Look to pay around $1,000. That's what they quote around here anyways. I would not buy a 14b, Honestly. Just buy a small 16g! I ran a small 16g awhile back with no fuel mods or anything with no problem.

doesn't that mean he also needs to buy an installation kit for the 16g?

I think I remember reading in one of the other posts about 16g and 20g turbos needing an install kit even though they are direct bolt-on replacements.

I was searching for what I'd need to upgrade my t25 to a 16g and found it would cost like 550 for the turbo and another 200 or so for an install kit. ouch!

No, hes a 1g.
A 14b is a mitsu turbo just like the 16g,20g.

The overpriced install kits really arent needed for the 2g cars either. Theres a homebrew tech article on it.
