As my original post stated I already looked on vfaq.

I found a lot of info regarding the BISS screw and also read Terry's Talon Troubleshooting Tips #3 - Fast Idle (aka. Idle Surge) about 5 times.

Sorry if I sound frustrated, but I'm just having some idle surge prob's and I can't figure it out!! Car starts fine and idles great. Then when the car reaches normal temp the RPM's jump up to 2000-2500. Pulling up to a stop light when it's doing that is getting old. So I have to turn on my air conditioner to make the Rpms drop.

Anyway, there aren't many folks who can work on DSM's in Iowa and I don't want to resort to the STEALERSHIP.

Thank for letting me vent,
Ryan

Unplug the ISC and run your idle from the BISS screw instead. It's often done until you can pick up a new one. Just make sure to read the VFAQ procedures on properly setting idle with the BISS.

This should keep you going until you can replace it and it won't harm anything.

Thanks Andy,

How long can I run the idle on the BISS alone? Not saying I'm going to do that for very long.

Regards,
Ryan

Ryan,

You can technically do so indefinitely. Mine was unplugged to deal with a minor surge issue that I wanted to nip in the bud before it worsened and harmed the ECU. Yours sounds more serious and merits having it unplugged. These are pretty expensive and I didn't want to pony up the cash right now so this does the trick. One thing I noticed is that when I cold start the car, it doesn't rev to 1500-1600 and then settle down to idle. Instead it goes to around 900-1000 and drops to 850 when the motor warms.

Anyhoo, you needed a pic so here's a thread with a reference picture:

I tried to take a few, but in a dimly lit garage with a flash going off against a silver TB elbow, it overexposed everything. If you still have your cruise control box, you'll need to squeeze your hand under that and get to the back side of the throttle body. The plug is a square head, rather large and comes off easily.

Should be cake!

Thanks a lot Andy.

Luda, this is why I love DSMtuners. Most of the time nOObs talk smack about their cars and don't really try to diagnose other DSM problems. The wisemen like Andy and the other wisemen actually give useful advice.

Thank you,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan. We don't always have the right answer, but experience is a painful and costly teacher. In many cases, we've gone through what you're dealing with and have seen the problem before.

On behalf of all wisemen and moderators who try to help, we appreciate the vote of confidence. Let us know how it goes eh?
