Where can I get a crank nitrided?

I've got a forged 4g64 crank that I want to get nitrided but can't find anyone that does it that is reputable.

So does anyone have recommendations on where I can get a crank nitrided and how much it runs?

I know the machine shops here in town send all the cranks to Cali to get nitrided and it usually is around $300 to have that done. Quite a price tag if you ask me, but I am also unsure of what all is involved in the process.

They just bake mitrogen into the aluminum to make it cleaner and much stronger. Think of putting a titanium coating on a wooden baseball bat. It also holds lube better.

I had mine machined due to spun bearing. Renitride coated for $75 bucks and then micro polished.

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah I knew why they did it just was unsure of the process ie. baking, dipping, or what not. Either way I would say a $300 price tag is quite large for that

Not aluminum. let me correct myself. Whatever steel they forge it from in DSMs. I don't think it's the carbon steel and i know it's not the cheap iron cranks they make now. and it's not baking like you would a set of rims. They have to put it in a vaccum and blast nitrogen into the surface. it doesn't help deep into the steel, it just coats it about .25 MM into the surface.
