nitrided crank

i was wondering if i nitrided the crank in my 7 bolt and swaped out the internals for better ones if i will be able to make the power the 6 bolt motors have?

I have heard some theories relating the susceptibility of crankwalk and the physical strength of the crank itself. As most know, the 6 bolt block has a nitrided crank from the factory whereas the 7 bolt has a very soft crank that can literally be cut with a file.

Some have speculated that using a nitrided 7 bolt crank would help alleviate the crankwalk ailments but I'm not so sure on that myself. I would rather not take the risk and just swap in a 6 bolt shortblock, though my OEM 7 bolt has been perfect for 90,000 miles now *knock on wood.*

i would swap but dont have the money pluse some of the parts you can no longer get form mitsu. does any one kno if nitriding the crank with help

Theres a thread on here somwhere about Nitrided cranks in the 7 bolt motor making it
a more power full motor....

I know that the 7 bolt design is suppose to be a superior motor to the 6 bolt. But the crank walk issues have stunted its popularity.

Im all for 6 bolts... since they have been proven to be worthy... but I would really like to see some people solving this crank walk crap and making extreem 7 bolts.


Cranks in 7 bolts are weaker then 6 bolts.. pretty sure i read this in that same thread i mentioned above.
