Where can i find shifter cables

i have been looking everywhere and cant seem to find shifter cables for my car. when i drive and switch into 2 - 4 - or R its like going to neutral. sometimes it goes in but thats only if i switch very slowly. my mechanic says its the shifter cables there old and rusty. i asked Mitsubishi but they said they are discontinued and hard to find so if anyone can help me i will really appreciate it
