wheel width

the forum wont let me post in handling but anyway...im over in okinawa, japan and i noticed the big trend with people that have aftermarket wheels is that the ones in the rear are wider than the front. i also noticed that the AWD skylines do not do this. ive got a 98 GSX back home and i was wondering if haveing wider wheels in the back than the front affects handling at all?

...........think about it.........surface area = friction, traction = friction,..... your back wheels will have better traction than your front...

if i wanted a "your stupid" comment i would of asked....but instead what i want to know is if anyone with an AWD vehicle has ever had wider wheels in the back and what, if any, was the affect.

DSM AWD must have the same size tires front and rear. Without exception.
