wheel offsets! help!!

I'm gonna run the rota grid wheel on my 92 tsi. 17x7 with some 225 tires most likey. but I cant find a clear awnser about the offset.. would anything in the 40 to 45mm offset work fine. This is just what from what I could find so far.. Any help on this would be great.

P.S. yes I've used the search to find this awnser, but no one running rota wheels. like I said, I'd just like a few people to chime in and help me out a lil.

Idk for a 1g, but I have Rotas on my 2g in 18x8, and they're +38 iirc. I would think you should have no issues on a 17x7 unless you are trying to fit a monster tire on there. 225 should be fine.

ya, I'm not looking for the wheel to stick out, if I have to roll the fender a lil, no big deal, but I just like to smack the people that have a wider wheel than tires, and the wheels hitting the fender.... d bags . not looking for a huge tire, with the awd, don't really need it. might get a 245 in the back later, but I see that as being as big as I go.

Also, anyone know a good place that wont break the bank on me buying a set????

can never go wrong with some evo rims, can pick them up pretty cheap too. For reference they are 17x8 38mm offset. (at least the 8/9's are) also so you know awd dsm= front and back tires must be the same rolling diameter

17x7's are easy since they are so narrow, anything from -38mm to -45mm will work. 17x9's take a little more work but still fit well on a 1g without touching the fenders if you know the correct offsets. ��

But if you're upgrading, I'd at least get Evo wheels as they are about the best deal out there.

It doesn't matter if they're running a rota or not. A 17x7 wheel is a 17x7 wheel. You should have no problem fitting it, 7in is still pretty skinny. With a higher offest like that it moves the wheel inwards towards the strut.
