i am selling my 93 GS to buy a GSX or GST but i dont know what year to buy.. i like the look of the 2nd gens but after reading the tuning tech i like the performance of the 1G and i also dont like the shaft play in the 2G. so what year would you guys recomend what is the easiest to mod and what has the least worries?? thanks for the opinions guys

If your gonna get a 1g get a 92 6 bolt 4 bolt if youre gonna get a 2g get whatever theyre all the same.

By shaft play do you mean crankwalk, or do you mean turbo shaft play? If its crankwalk, dont worry about it, if it happens, it happens (most 2Gs with over 100K miles are probably unaffected by crankwalk - it would have happened by then (most of the time)). If you mean turbo shaft play, 1G turbos are older, so wouldn't they have more shaft play  ? I'd go with a 2G - they look better, and there newer (less broken parts hopefully). 1Gs do have bigger turbos stock, but there ugly IMO (there are some sweet ass 1Gs on this board tho, but I mean stock for stock, 1Gs are ugly when compared to 2Gs). Not to mention if you go with a 2G you have DSMLink available! Try to get a 95 if you get a 2G, they supposedly have a lower chance of CW and they have EPROM ECUs (well a couple of the late 95s dont but just about all 95s do) so you can add DSMLink or any chip (like keydiver or TMO) easily.

yeah i meant crank walk sorry had a brain cramp... i do like the 2G's especially sense i just found a 95 talon with 89K TSI for 4200 ;)

1Gs are much better-built than 2Gs. It reminds you with every switch on the dash, all the groaning interior trim and every rattle you chase down. But 1Gs feel like being in a damned Camaro or something, and for me, the dash (particularly the radio) is out of reach, the speedometer is half-hidden by the steering wheel, and there's those goddamned moustrap seatbelts. Although 2Gs are heavier, they feel a lot lighter, and have a _much_ more "modern" feel behind the wheel. In stock trim, despite the rude comments made about the T-25, they're a bit hotter through more of the rev band than the 1Gs. Puny or not, the T-25 comes on in the usual range of RPMs that most street driving is done in, and it spools right up.

If it weren't for 200SXs and Thunderbirds, I'd think the 1Gs are pretty good-looking. But they just don't compare to the leap in looks that the 2Gs are. The 1Gs are great, I just think the 2Gs are that little bit better.

The 2g's have that higher compression, and losing the T25 for a 14b is like 50 bucks.

I guess it depends what you want to do with the car.

2g's have smaller intake runners and a smaller head too. Defiant is right about the 1g seatbelts but unless you're retarded (or huge) you'll get used to em. 2g owners usually complain of the CEL when doing modding...never heard of that from 1g owners.
All in all 2g does look better IMO, and 1g's are getting older now and need more oem parts than a mo fo.

i have a 1g and the 2g transmission is awesome when shifting compared to 1g's by 2g i am talking around a 98 or so. if you read through the threads i am sure you will find lots of people complaining about shifting 1g's and early 2g's

id try to find a 2g. a 1g is older and thus will have more initial problems than a 2g because of the fact it is older and shit breaks. talk to my freind krazywhitboy. he hates the fact that every day its something else in his 90 talon. i told him thats part of the territory. but a 2g thats not taken care of can hurt you too. look for one that looks like it was babied. i got mine at 57k miles for 7500, spyder gst 5spd. look around, when you find the car you want, youll know its right.
