My TOB is on its way out. I just started to hear it squeak last week. I know its the TOB because when the clutch is pressed ever so lightly it stops the noise. My question is: When I installed my Shep Tranny, Spec clutch and Flywheel, what TOB should I have used, the one that came on the Shep tranny or the one that came with my clutch? I used the one that came on the transmission. Could this be why it has gone bad in less that 2000 miles? I also have a very bad grinding sound when I engine break, I was told that this could be cause by the lightweight flywheel. But I am now starting to think that this could be because of the TOB. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The TOB that was used, was it plastic coated or all metal? You need to use the all metal one. Its what OEM is. Lately companies have been sending cheaped plastic coated TOB's that have been dying prematurely. This could be your problem.

I can't stress using the OEM TOB enough. It's only $21 too. I had a aftermarket TOB go in 1500 miles.

OEM TOB's are plastic-sleeved(teflon actually, but you get the idea).

All metal TOBs will probably last longer, but also have a habit of chewing up your input shaft, too. Pick your poison.

act tob blew on me in 2 months... brand new tranny...greased input too... everything installed proper
