Windsor,
I am planning on upgrading car all around within the next two weeks, i am thinking of getting GM MAF and translator. What exactly do i need to make tuning as easy as possible. Should i go with something else? What type of datalogger should i get if i need one? i am new to all the electronic devices that are offered for our cars when it comes to tuning. any help would be appreciated.

If it helps this is a list of upgrades i am hoping to buy

EVO B16G turbo
FMIC - (undecided from who, if anyone knows of better prices other than posted in catalogue plz let me know)
Walbro 255 FP
RE-Wire kit for FP
Greddy Type - S BOV
Aeromotive AFPR
Greddy Profec B-Spec.2 II Electronic Boost Controller
HKS Type - 0 Turbo Timer
Intake Pipe(undecided which one)
Injectors(suggestions on which size?)
Possibly HKS Cams
ACT 2600
Quaife Front LSD

If i am missing anything then i am welcome to suggestions. As far as the exhaust goes, i think i may go with ported evo mani, and 02 housing. i also will be upgrading the exhaust system itself. I may sound like an idiot listing all this stuff, but my savings for my car are high enough now that i think i can start my upgrades. Again i am open to suggestions on changes or add-ons i should have on my list.

Yes, a kit is just that, the full kit, the intercooler and the upper and lower piping, Otherwise it is just called a core....

As far as tuning goes, get a data logger, with that, the MAF trans, and a boost controller, you can do all the tuning you need, and if you wan't even more controll, look into DSM link, and an SAFC, but with that GM MAF trans, you don't really need a SAFC, but many people use them together for better tuning.....it all depends on the depth of your pockets...but you def. want to get a data logger ASAP.

No, if you are running the MAS with trans. then you don't need an SAFC at all. You can still run one if you wish, it will allow you to tune more procise. But it is not needed at all, and most tuners with a GM MAS don't run the SAFC

The only FMIC kit that i know of that comes with gm setup is the dejon tool front mount, but unfortionately they dont have the best prices, so u have a few choices, get a full front mount kit and then hack up the ic pipes to fit the gm urself, get the dejon gm front mount, or get the ic pipes from dejon and the core from somewhere else, but there might be compatibility issues with getting the core and the ic pipes from difference companies. GM with a front mount is a pain in the ass unless u have the right stuff to do it urself.

Also u wont need to rewire ur fuel pump if ur getting a 255 fp. U'll have well enough fuel pressure to satisfy a 16g. With the injectors it would be best to get 660s or bigger.

Dont by s-afc or any of that. Wait a few more weeks and dsm link will be out for the 1g's. Money well spent on that if you ask me. I, personally hate my ####ing s-afc its stupid. But yeah, what do i know.

awesome, is there a link to a page that i can keep updated on when the dsmlink will be available? or should i just keep an eye on this site?

the core of an intercooler is the radiator looking part, not an intercooler with no piping included... ic core=intercooler with no end tanks. im getting tired of calling out yer wrong info bjeezy, maybe you shouldnt post unless you are sure about what you are talking about.

:)

on topic, the best ic kit i know of at a great price is actually one sold by a guy on ebay, heres a link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7921030933&rd=1

his stuff is top quality, includes EVERYTHING you need, even comes with t band clamps instead of the crappy screw type ones most other kits include.

you arent going to find a better setup than this, and the closest competition is a couple hundred dollars off.

I got one too.... I FREAKING LOVE IT. Took a bit to install due to the shifter weight slapping the pipes, i wound up cutting, welding, and buying a 45deg silicon bend but the short route is NIIIIICE. Also, for the first few days i turbo surged a few times :( the blowoff would get pushed back against the cruise right at the vaccuum nipple..... sliced right through i double-rubber/nylon tube! OMG
