Normally I figure that I'd be ok just getting a set of 1g gaskets and I'd be good to go, but I have a 2g elbow now and want to get it right.

Do I now have to use a 1g inner TB gasket and a 2g outer TB gasket?

Thanks

Ok, will do that and thanks.

Also, are there metal gaskets out there? I dislike cork or composite gaskets that can only be used once especially considering how much we find ourselves taking these cars apart.

Just asking if it is possible.

Thanks again.

Use a 1g gasket :)

Sorry, I own 6 vehicles right now so I am all over the place.

Can I get a metal set somewhere? If not, then I'll just get the "felt type".

Thanks

Metal no cork mine were a sort of felt nothing special never saw a cork one for the tb.

Same here,

I have used only OEM throttle gaskets and the last one I bought, I have reused it 4 times now and still holds on.

The problems is when taking it off.

I always spray WD40 on the gasket, gives time to the gasket to absorb the oil and it will loose itself, this way, you will get it off with out ripping it off,.
After that, just clean it with Carburator spray or gasoline and its all new again.

OEM are thick and will last for a long time if you know how to do it right.

Thanks for the tip. What is W2?

Also, I have this kit laying around:

Buy Felpro Turbo Mounting Gasket Set ES 72787 at Advance Auto Parts

If you take a look at the blowup in the lower left hand hand side there is something in there that looks like one of the TB gaskets. Any idea if this is intended to be an OEM gasket?

Figure since I have the kit around I'd better try to get my money's worth.

***Answer seems to be YES...check the review out....good for at least the TB elbow possibly***

There are metal gasket but they suck. You best bet is to do what I did and buy a roll of gasket paper and cut them yourself as needed.

Sorry my bad, I meant to say WD40:banghead::banghead::banghead:

However, the kit you posted is not OEM, the left down corner has the elbow gasket, But the throttle gasket is not included in the kit.

You can buy the paper and cut it to make your own gasket, But the OEM has an O seal that seals very well.

For proof,

Here it is.

Just cut it from rubber sheet.

Seals better than paper, handles surface imperfections and is reusable.

Lol, it's ok, was just wondering if it was something new. ROFL Will anything work like Deep Creep, PB Blaster, or Liquid Wrench?

If WD40 is unique for that, I will grab some for sure.

Yep, I know that the elbow gasket is there but not the throttle gasket. I can grab that super cheap at advance auto. I am pretty much trying to lump all the parts I need together then grab a coupon code.

I've reused the metal gaskets several times in my engine without issue. Cleaned them, sprayed them and installed. No leaks at all. Only time it leaked was bare (was used though) and when I tried silicone instead of copper spray. Use copper spray and seals every time.

Thanks for the tips on cutting the gasket. I need to get over the hump and start doing this. Last time I swear. If you catch me talking about where to get gaskets after I get my cylinder head together please feel free to hit me over the head with an ugly stick! :)
