Im thinking of purchasing a holset hx40, it has 8 blades and a 19cm exhaust housing, id be using a true t4 twin scroll manifold.
What kind of spool would i be expecting with the huge 19cm housing using it in a twin scroll setup? What other turbo would this be comparable to a gt40? or bigger?

question is what kind of horsepower are you looking for because ive seen them making 600- 700hp in a second generation also is the car going to be a street car or street and track i have a gt35r in my car and that is the biggest i go for a nice street car not to much lag just my opinion but if you have the supporting mods than you are ok spool is around 4000

Im looking for 6-700, was that spool using the smaller exhaust housing? from what ive read so far the 19cm housing is laggy but every case ive seen that was using a non divided t4 manifold mated with the divided turbo. Its going to be a mostly track car with the occasional street cruise

We've proven the .70 Bullseye T3 housing is enough to max out the HX40 compressor, so I honestly think anything larger than that is going to do nothing but add lag.

I'd recommend getting it rebuilt- that turbo appears to have come from Ohio Truck Parts, and many of their stuff sat exposed to the elements for a long time.

Yours having 8-blades on the compressor; I'm guessing it's a 58mm wheel- that would place it close to a BW S258/259 or possibly a Garrett 60-1.

It is actually from ohio truck parts, and i did figure it would need to be rebuilt just buy looking at the pictures as it looks somewhat rough, the reason that i had to have it in a t4 variety is because i already have a divided t4 manifold, is a rebuild something someone at home could tackle or should i just pay someone to do it?
Wow so its much smaller than i thought it was, and would be smaller than what i was looking to get before, i was previously set on a s362 but as of now im set on this holset or a borg warner s360 8375 which i can get brand new for just under $700
I guess what would you guys do buy this holset for $300 and get a rebuild (unsure on price) or just buy a brand new borg warner s360? Buying new worth the price difference?

Thats what i was leaning towards also, just for more knowledge when would you start to see boost and reach full boost in this configuration, 2 liter, 272 cams, hx40/19cm, t4 ts?

Honest i like that better than just some bull that you figured sounded good, if i ever have any turbocharger problems youll def be getting my business
