Solution
from that part number i get the description: emission control thermo valve

that's what i meant to say... thermo valve.. not swtich :thumb:

like i said though, you don't need emissions crap, get rid of it :thumb:
what happened to it? i'm not sure what it is called but I do know that there is a vacuum line that attaches to that from the throttle body, correct? did it break off or are the threads screwed up or something? You live in Sidney, right, so take it into Lordco or something and they should be able to tell you exactly what it's called and give you a price.

one of the vacuum ports broke off, i'm gonna take it in to lordco and see if they have something like this. If this is not the temp sensor, what is it?

The easiest way to put an end to this is call a mitsu dealer parts dept with the number and ask them to look it up

He is also correct above

Do they have emission laws in canada

ok, thanks. Yeah, they have emissions laws, not so much where I live (small town) but i'll most likely be moving to vancouver where emission controls are needed

fair enough, then they stay. Lordco is having trouble finding an emission control thermo valve, does this mean I have to go to the dealer :notgood:

dealer can't get one in for two weeks, and my car should be running tomarrow. Can I eliminate just those vac lines without causing too much havoc with my emissions...If so, how do I cap off a broken port?

JB Weld a piece of ballpoint pen filler tubing in there. If you get fancy, you can find different sizes, one which would fit into the hole and another to shroud over that and bring it up to the stock diameter.
Can I eliminate just those vac lines without causing too much havoc with my emissions...
Most likely. That appears to be a thermal vacuum switch, such as would provide a higher-vacuum source if an engine gets too warm. I'm too lazy just now to go noodle out what exactly that one does.
If so, how do I cap off a broken port?
Rubber cap and a wire-tie. Any parts store.
